Historical Skin representing the Fw-190 A-3s of Turkey's Fifth Fighter Regiment, Eskesehir Airbase circa 1942/3
72 of these aircraft were delivered from Germany to Turkey in return for chromium and high-grade iron from late 1942 through to early 1943. Their equipment was largely Luftwaffe standard, excepting that their cannons had been replaced with additional MG-17 machine guns and that the FuG-25 IFF system was removed for security purposes. The aircraft was widely liked by pilots and remained in service with the Fifth Fighter Regiment until early 1949 when they were retired, having never seen combat.
