I had similar problems with my Crystal Light. My Rift S, Reverb G2 and Quest 3 headsets all did head trackng perfectly All sorts of light setups, qr codes, waving my hands in front of headset (actually works somewhat) really didnt make it better, and newer software updates made it unplayable It definately got worse over time, usually after 15 minutes I had to quit DCS I finally went to a lighthouse setup (2 HTC Vive BaseStation 1.0, HTC Vive controller (used) and Pimax Lighthouse faceplate) About $500 for everything...yes lots of $$ but the difference is DRAMATIC. Shame we have to spend this on a $$ headset With the lighthouse faceplate, the stock controllers dont work anymore if in lighthouse mode. The HTC Vive Controller is needed for room setup and centering the headset. You might be able to live without the controller but I use XRNS and without centering the headset with Controller, when I would look left or right using XRNS, the view would be from outside the airplane. You still need to center the headset thru DCS after centering it with controller.

Just a followup on the headtracking issues The elgato light worked very well for me for a few months. Sometimes though, it would get bad and simply waving a hand in front of the headset seemed to fix the issue. This was until a few months ago when a new pimax software update made it absolutely horrendous. Headtracking would be fine for like 15 minutes or so and would then get so bad, I couldnt play DCS anymore. It even went so far as changing my centered head position to all sort of funky places. I actually took a 1 month break and decided to go with a lighthouse setup which also required a different controller (I used a 'used' HTC Vive Controller) Lots of $$($200 for faceplate, $60 for controller and 2 HTC Vive Base Stations V1.0 ($200)) but I can actually play DCS now...smooth as silk now.

Thanks all for the info. That Chaperone sure was annoying. I tried several lights I had lying around as well as the QR codes mentioned but non were perfect. The Elgato Key light was the ticket. A little more $$ than I would have liked but it solved the headtracking problem.

I have had my PCL for a a few weeks now. Two annoying issues I seem to be having are: 1.) Headtracking - it can be fine for an hour and sometimes it jumps all over the place. I have a ceiling light a few feet behind me and a 65 inch tv 6ft away and 6ft to the right that I use as a monitor. When the headtracking gets bad, its almost unplayable and many times I have to stop. Is there anything I can do to improve the headtracking like wall posters? While I am not a fan of base stations, I would consider them. 2.) Boundary issues - I have the headset setup for sitting down use. Its seems like randomly the light green boundary shows up and sticks around. I havnt been able to figure out anything repeatable just like the headtracking issue (they might be related). While its not a showstopper its super annoying. Sometimes recentering thru the pi button on the controller make it go away but not always. Should I use room boundary instead? I do have a dedicated sim cockpit setup (next level racing racing military edition) I have had no such issues with a Rift S, two Reverb G2s or a Quest 3, headtracking on these is always super smooth

Thanks for the help guys. I tried with/without OpenXR Toolkit installed without any changes. I was only using it for checking FPS I did have DLSS on in DCS, turning it off as well as AA made a 'slight improvement' but its still an issue. I think my issue is that the reduced focal length of the PCL (1 meter) vs the G2 (2 meter) is enough to require me to get prescription inserts. I did put on an old pair of progressive prescription glasses and noticed when I looked thru the lower/reading section it all became crystal(pun intended) clear.

I have been the happy owner of two Reverb G2s for a few years now. I have absolutely zero complaints with them (and might just keep using them until they both die). I did setup windows to not do feature updates to get rid of WMR. After hearing all the praise of the PCL I decided to give it a try. Still working out many new settings(from youtube videos) but one thing I have noticed is the lack of sharpness at a distance (even inside the cockpit). In the F/18 for example, the side panels are definately sharper as is the stick. All the stuff on the front panels and DDis are fuzzy enough that I am considering returning the headset. If I really lean forward the image gets sharper. At 62 years old my eyes arent the best but I get by with basic 1.5 diopter reading glasses. I also have stigmatism and have prescription glasses for that but rarely need them in the real world or for driving. I do have excellent far vision. Trying all my prescription glasses improved the image but not by any significant amount. My reverb G2s have none of this fuzziness. Im using OpenXR toolkit with the center FPS indicator (just text) and it is quite sharp. The mission briefings are also very sharp. I play around on the aerobatic servers and the carrot indicators of other planes are also 'quite' blurry enough so that it is hard to pick out individual carrot indicators unless I am on top of the planes. Any ideas on what I can play with to fix this issue.

Is there a way to enter exact lat/lon coordinates for ground unit I have added without selecting the unit and moving it with the mouse. I am trying to place units with the complete lat/lon precision including decimal portion which is hard to get exact using the mouse. Why would I want this? I have created my own copy(which I will keep to myself) of a multiserver PVE map so I can play with all sort of strategies using GPS munitions without dying all the time.

I have hoggits caucus training .miz file on my local pc and have been practicing A/G and just started A/A. There are several C-101 flying around which I can engage and shoot down. As soon as I get close, they pretty much seem to just go into a continuous max g-turn. I can stay with them for the most part (lag pursuit) but never gain an advantage. If I start going for lead pursuit I quickly seem to bleed off too much energy. Trying low and high yoyos doesnt seem to offer any real advantage (I could be doing them wrong). Ideally I would like gun kills but so far, only been able to get missile kills (I havnt uncaged yet) Whats a good strategy to combat these constant high-g turns being done by the C-101. The AI is set to rookie for the C-101

Thanks for the reply, Im still new to the A-8 so it is certainly possible I didnt do something correctly during startup although I have been flying the A-8 with my own startup for a few hours now without issue The issue occurred while reducing throttle completely while trying to get in formation with some AI flying 109s. At first, the prop stopped and started a few times and then the prop stopped completely. I will try to recreate Update: I recall monitoring oil temps and fuel and it happened a few minutes after takeoff Couldnt seem to create this condition in the caucas instant action free flight. With the throttle all the way closed it behaves like I expect (prop just spins slowly forever) Probably something I did incorrectly in startup Thanks for the help

Just started playing with the A-8 and after reducing the throttle to get into formation with some 109s, the engine quit. Luckily I deadsticked the landing safely. Is there a procedure to restart engine in flight? I searched Chucks guide and did various google searches.

Another option is to try some of the multiplayer missions available in the user files area on this website https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3308344/ Allows you to spawn enemies and missions to your hearts content and even change difficulty at any time
