Hi Triggerhappy. Nope, any news..... I asked 2 days ago a good swedish mate (my brother-in-arm during Kosovo war) if he can buy it for me online (as for the non norvegian-swedish-english people isn't allowed to buy online....) then send it to me. He sayd no problem, now I'm waiting for he gives me the OK to proceed. BTW, I'm a little curious if Steinar got my message.... But if Steinar can really do it, let me know, I'll stop my swedish friend. Thanks for all Jocman -
TrackIR 4: bug or lack in the IR emitters cone?
Jocman replied to Jocman's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ok, guys. I followed all the suggestions. Checked the IR software and the IR rec position (now it's on the middle of the top left side of the monitor). It seems evrything's working fine, I got a good FOM. I suppose that if I can place the IR rec right in front of me (or better, in front of the IR emitters), it should be the best. I will think about during the making of my cockpit. BTW, thanks all of you for you help Jocman -
TrackIR 4: bug or lack in the IR emitters cone?
Jocman replied to Jocman's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for help. I'll try, then I'll post the results. Jocman -
No problem. Maybe I'll manage to get them next time I'll work with US soldiers (if I knew before, I've spent about 7 months in Camp Bondsteel - a lot of Black hawks, but I never tought about asking for spare parts)..... BTW, there's some website dealing with those stuffs? Jocman

Real ACES II seat belt? it would be great. But I live in the "old" Europe". By the way can you tell me some details more? Who knows, maybe a solution can be found. jocman

Hi all. I realized that maybe there's a bug in Track Ir (I own the version 4 Pro + TrackClip). In fact, flying in BS I've seen that if I turn or bank my head to the right side (moving also forward and backward panning inside the cockpit), evrything is fine (of course, in the range of the IR receiver). But if I do the same to the left side, I don't have the same range of movement (almost limited). I think maybe it happens 'cause the 3 IR emitters are placed on the left side of my head (on the headphone), so maybe the IR cone is limited,'cause when I turn or bank to the left, my head cover the emission. But the device is build to be positioned on the side (right or left), so I think the designer should have tought about this issue, dont'you? I tried to move the IR receiver from the center of the monitor to the left side, then also on the monitor basis (center then left), but nothing change: the left range is always limited.... Anyone else noticed the same "bug"??? Ideas on how to fix it??? Jocman

Well, short update... Designing phase is almost done (99.9 % I suppose, but everytime I check it, I found some little details to fix, or new ideas growing in my brain...) Seat is done (just the seat belts missing - still don't know how make them - but it will be the last issue). Hardware is on the way to my home (IO cards and electro components), in few days I should get them... Next days I hope to start building the panels. By now I just built a carton preview, to check the measures and plan the structure. Jocman

Hi Memento. Nice work, really impressive. How did you make the boxes? can you share some draw? I was plannig to make somathing a little bit more laborious (using plexiglas and manual mill), but if build your box is less a mess, I'll think about it. Jocman

Jocman replied to Triggerhappy69's topic in Home Cockpits
Yep, I know, it will be quite complicated, but I think it could be an excellent solution to build the cockpit. Ok, I'm going on with the project; now I'm waiting for some news (hopefully good news) from Triggerhappy concerning the cloche Suncom Talon; oterwhise, I think I'll have to build the cloche by myself.... Thanks a lot Hellfrog Jocman -

Well, Hellfrog, thanks always for you kindness. actually I did as written in TouchPal installation guidelines, as below riported: Installation Installation instructions for TouchPal Introduction TouchPal does not require an installation and can be placed anywhere in your file system you like. Just create a directory where you would like TouchPal installed and extract the zip file into the folder. The binary download includes both the application and an XSD file. The XSD file is only for reference when creating your profiles. Details Download the latest binary from http://code.google.com/p/touchpal/downloads/list Create a TouchPal folder where you want TouchPal location (ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\TouchPal) Extract zip into TouchPal folder nowhere is reported to put obligatorily the .xms files in my Document folder. Anyway, I did as you once again told me, and put only the xlm files (i got some profile from other guys) in My Document folder, then run the exe. Ok, now it works. more or less. In fact, I put the folders with the images in my document too, but the only thing I get is a grey square (i suppose it should be the interface).. By the way, I forgot the exe is only an...interpreter of XLM files (normally I use Touch Buddy with its user interface). Anyone knows if it will be possible to manage the EKRAN via LUA-SIOC? I'm building the cockpit using OC cards, and in that case I can use a 4 lines dot display to manage it, and this will be the best solution (actually, I've still to find the 4 lines dot display.....) Thanks Hellfrog Jocman -

Hi Hellfrog. Thanks for your suggestion. I don't have any touchpal profile, as I never run it..... Let me say that I checked again the installation note about Touchpal (I found it on http://code.google.com/p/touchpal) but no citations about Net framework. Anyway, I downloaded once again from the link you provided me; this time, I got a bigger zip (I realized there is also a profile included); I've seen this time, after unzipping, that the .exe file is bigger: 80 kb (before I got always 40kb); more, I can see the Touchpal icon for the .exe (before I got the generic .exe icon used by win). 1) I run it: error message as always..... 2) I downloaded the Net framework 3.5 redistr. file (33 Mb), then installed, then run again touchpal: error message as always.... 3) I downloaded from Microsoft the Frame 3.5 installer, wich installed a 72 Mb file; then run Tuochpal again: error message as always.... I don't know what to do. It 's possible I can't run touchpal? need it some monster PC to do it?????ù By the way, I just need it to display EKRAN on a separate monitor (as BS does natively for the ABRIS and SHKVAL); is it (TouchPal) the only way to do it???? Sorry, I'm really pisxxd off for that.... Jocman PS: what is usefull for knowing the MD5 hash???? -
Thanks guys. I got all the suggestions you gave me. Finally, I decided to make maybe the easiest thing: I got the measure of my AUDI. I love this car cockpit: user friendly and confortable..... Then I'll try to place the front panel and the seat related to those measures. I'll try....Has to see if I'll get it.... BTW, the Duckling's links rock...... Jocman

Jocman replied to Triggerhappy69's topic in Home Cockpits
Well, Triggerhappy, don't know what to say. I wrote him using the module provided on the web address you gave me (this is the reason why I hate those pre-made modules: never the possibility to keep a copy). Anyway, let me know if he like to contact me via mail. Thankyou I downloaded several times the zip file, but nothing changes: always a little .exe. No profile folder. I simply downloaded, unzipped, then run the exe. I read also the istallation note, but I didn't find anything particular to do..... And this freacking error message still alive...... Need it some particular VB library or something else like????? Jocman -

Hi. No error.log file in TouchPal folder. I downloaded the zip file, then unzipped getting a folder with those files: APACHE-LICENSE-2_0 CockpitXML.xsd README.txt TouchPal.exe (43 kb) When I run the .exe, I get win error message (the one where win ask you if you want to forward the error log to Microsoft). Any suggestion more? Honestly I think 43 Kb for the exe are almost little, or not???? Thanks for the Thrustmaster link Jocman -

Jocman replied to Triggerhappy69's topic in Home Cockpits
Thanks Trigger. I left a message to C.A. Stonehard; now just waiting for reply (hopefully). Anyway I'll let you know. Another question: can you provide the e-mail where to write to get spare parts of Thrustmaster's joy (cougar, etc)? I think I'll need some of them for my cyclic and collective. By the way, I'm almost starting the build: just finishing the details of the draws, then ordering components, and I'll start building. I'm just having trouble with TouchPal (I need it to show EKRAN on secondaruy monitor): win7-32 give me an error message "An error occurred. The application will be closed". I don't understand why.... Jocman -
Hi all. I'm trying to fix the problem of show EKRAN on a separate monitor, as I can't get it via multimonitor LUA file. So I found on the forum that Touchpal is capable to visualize the EKRAN via Export.lua. Then I downloaded the last Touchpal version by this address: http://touchpal.googlecode.com/files/TouchPal-0.4.zip But when I launch the exe, I get an error message (win can't run the program). I didn't find anything concerning running problem in the documentation provided with Touchpal. Can anyone help me to understand why it doesn't work? Jocman (I don't know if usefull, but I can run without any problem Touchbuddy)

HI ggg87. Quick answert, as for the next 2 dyas I'll be too busy at work to test something. I'll try as you suggest me (using an autogenerated monitor LUA wir Abris+camera+Shkval the modify it), then I'll let you know. About Touchpal, I made a google search, but I found only version for mobile phone device or pocket PC.... Is that what I need? Or where can I download it with some docs? Jocman EDIT: I found it :-D Stay tuned for the test jocman

Hi ggg87, here again to ask more help (sorry....) Well, I fixed the problem with touch buddy too (now evrything works great). BTW, I tried to make some test so to show more...items in teh same monitor. I'm interesting in showing (on a third monitor) the ABRIS and the EKRAN. Actually, I don't know if it's possible to show the EKRAN, but I tried. I tested it in my 12" touchscreen. I modified the monitor file (jocman.lua) simply by coping the lines concerning the SHKVAL, and renaming the head in "ABRIS" and "EKRAN" (ABRIS should work, as the default BS options allow to choose Shval+cam+ABRIS). Here they come: Shkval = { x = 1920; y = 0; width = 800; height = 300; } ABRIS = { x = 1920; y = 300; width = 600; height = 300; } EKRAN = { x = 2520; y = 300; width = 200; height = 300; } (all with semicolon :D) I remember I found some hint concerning the fact that is mandatory to write the heads (as ABRIS or so) in the right way (capitol letter or low case, where need it), but I don't remember if I'm right and where I found it.... I got as follows: upper side of the touchscreen: SHKVAL resized in the right way lower side: nothing, just the BS splash screen (I expected 2/3 left ABRIS and 1/3 right EKRAN - no matter if a stretched image or not, it was just a test) Ok, maybe the EKRAN is not allowed (I tought).....I deleted the lines concerning EKRAN, then run it again. No changes: I see the upper side in the correct way I expect, but the lower side shows again the BS splash screen Any other suggestion? It will be basic for the future develope of my cockpit's front panel, as I plan to use a separate monitor to show ABRIS, EKRAN and BSVP gauges Thanks for your kindness Jocman

Great help, ggg87 !!!! I checked the semicolon problem. Well, actually I've seen there where commas instead of semicolon. I don't understand why, but all the lines in LUA files have the comma, even the lines I didn't modify (it means i just edited the lines I was interesting in). BTW, I replaced all the commas with semicolons, and tried.... IT WORKS!!!! I've just to fix a problem with Toych Buddy (I made an interface with trasparent background where to display the SHKVAL, but it doesn't work - this is a minor problem) Thanks a lot! Jocman

wow, guys, 2 days and no suggestion? Jocman

I tried to move the secondary screen on tge right side in the win/diplay properties (now the coord. are -800;0), without changing any value in lua files. In theory, I'd espect that SHKVAL now is displayed in 12" screen: NOPE. same resoult. Some suggestion? Jocman

Hi all. In my future projects, I'm planning to use multiple monitors (very soon at least 3 + 1, later maybe about 5+1) Currently I'm trying to configure 2 monitors: the main (24" wide 1920*1080) and the secondary (12" touchscreen 800*600) Ah, I'm running Win7-32. I unchecked the "full screen" option. Then I modified the option.lua and the custom monitor.lua as follow OPTION.LUA ["height"] = 1080, -THIS SHOULD BE THE MAX HEIGHT ["resolution"] = "1920x1080", -MAIN SCREEN RESOLUTION ["civTraffic"] = 0, ["width"] = 2720, -TOTAL WIDTH (1920+800) }, -- end of ["graphics"] and my custom monitor .lua file Description = 'Jocman' Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; -IT MEANS THE COCKPIT IN IN THE MAIN SCREEN y = 0 width = 1920 height = 1080 viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 16/10; } } Shkval = { x = 1920; -IT MEANS THE SHKVAL START IN THE SECONDARY y = 0; width = 800; -SHKVAL WIDTH (RES OF THE SECONDARY) height = 600; -SHKVAL HEIGHT (RES OF THE SECONDARY) } I tryied both with and without phantom monitor (I'm running BS 1.01) The configuration above is without phantom. In Win7 monitor properties, the secondary is placed up right the main monitor (coord. 1920;0). Well, when I start BS to test the views, it happens that the SHKVAL is placed in the main monitor left side (coord 0;0) for about 3/4 of the total width, the cockpit is placed in the main too for the last 1/4 of the total width, then only the upper right quarter of ht ecockpit is shown in the secondary....... I don't understand why..... Anyone can suggest me something to fix it??? Thanks Jocman

Hi Trigger, Jocman here. Currently running for my cockpit (and stealing some of your excellent solutions....) I'd be interesting in contact this guy (I was going to make a fiber glass copy of my Cougar, but finding a Suncom Talon to hack is a better solution)... Can you provide the address? Greetings and congratulations for your job Jocman -
Well, CoNa, thanks for the suggestions. I think my "way" is the "F1 style" (by the way, the seat shown in your draws is exactly what I got). I pop the question, because, after build the front panel (carton) based on real measures (or I hope so), I've realized that: - if I put the panel vertical on my legs (there are the legs...tunnels), contacting the seat (it means I can easily touch the panel), the top of the panel is right in center of my eyes. It means I don't see nothing (hopefully I'll place my LCD on the top of panel). Moreover, the central sections (where to place the cloche) is in the middle of my legs (not really confortable...) - I tried to tilt the panel to get a good visual (the top now is on my nose level, fine for the LCD - and nice to see- and reasonable distance to touch it, but still keeping the cloche problem) Both cases, I realized I don't have place for my legs (the panel is contacting my legs and the seat, so I'm trying to figure out how enter the cockpit) That reason I asked about some measures: I don't know if my idea is right o wrong: have to possibility to touch the panel. I suppose I must have this possibility (a real pilot has seat bealt, well secured so no big freedom of movement), but in this case no place for legs. If I get place for legs, I can't reach the panel without moving my back from the seat..... What a mess....... Jocman
