baksie Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 2 x 8800 GTS or 260 GTX Any input ? I already have 8800GTS and my second broke so Do I need to upgrade to 1 x 260 GTX or buy a new 8800gts (which are hard to find these days) Intel I7-10700K, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB NVMe, MSI Z490 ACE, RAM:64GB DDR4 3600, WIN 10-64, 1080Ti Waiting on a good RTX AH-64D|AV-88|A10CII|F15E|F16CM|FA18C|F14B|NV|PG|Syria|Synia
crazysundog Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Well, my 260core216 is awesome, but it really comes down to your processor and OS... Oh, and what else will you be using if for? (other than BS)
BakaNi Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 There is no official sli support from nvidia, however some people have reported increases in fps with custom profiles. If the 8800gts cannot provide the speed you require, I recommend you buy a faster single card solution, rather than adding a second 8800gts. Please note that Black Shark is hugely cpu limited, so even my 8800gtx ultra sli is held back by my 3.6ghz processor. More cpu grunt is the key to better Black Shark performance. (unless you're running a stupidly highly resolution screen, e.g. 2560x1600 plus)
Amuro Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 BS does not work with SLI. In my profile, I have to set the SLI rendering mode to single GPU, as using any other mode would result in graphical glitches. If you take a look in the Nvidia profile for Lockon, you'll notice it's also set to single mode. baksie Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 I am running Q6600 with 4gb and now 1 8800 GTS. The other one broke. I had very good frame rates with Vista U64 and those 2 8800's using the multicore fix. So further suggestions ? hitman Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Get a GTX260 Core 216. The performance of that card will smoke an 8800 in sli. I had Crysis running max resolution and max settings at 40fps with a core 216. 2
