Colt40Five Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I'll admit straight up I haven't trolled through the in-game encyclopedia for this info, but best I can remember it only lists it's SAM ranges for the ships, but I could be wrong so don't get your panties in a twist. If you feel I should RTFM then just pass this thread by, because I will be checking it... What I'd like to know is what Russian ships have for ship to surface attacks and their relative ranges of engagement as well as any tips mission builders may have about about the AI behavior of the ships in a ship to surface attack. Thanks for any info! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
JEFX Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 It is not stated anywhere in the documentation. I have made some experience a while back (I think in 1.11) and I had found that Molnya class would have a range of ship to surface engagement distance of 14 km max and Neustrashimy was about 20 km. The Ticonderoga would also be about 14 km. But this is very approximate. JEFX [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... In real life I fly a humble Cessna Hawx XP II with 210 HP :D

Thanks for any info! If you by "ship to surface" attack mean land attack capability, then that would be a question of gun ranges - the Russian warships don't carry land-attack cruise missiles such as the US TLAM. Approximate gun ranges: * AK-130 (130 mm twin-barrel artillery mount) employed by the Moscow: ~ 22 km * AK-100 (100 mm single-barrel artillery mount) employed by the Neustrashimy and Rezky(Krivak II): ~ 20 km. * AK-176M (76 mm single-barrel artillery mount) employed by Albatros(Grisha V) and Molniya(Tarantul III): ~ 15 km However, if your question also concerns surface-to-surface capability(ship versus ship), then Russian warships in Lock-on employ the following SSMs with respective ranges: * P-700(3M-45) "Granit" (supersonic cruise missile) employed by the Kuznetsov(12 units): ~ 550 km * P-500(4K-80) "Bazalt" (supersonic cruise missile) employed by the Moscow(16 units): ~ 550 km * P-270(3M-80E) "Moskit" (supersonic cruise missile) employed by the Molniya(4 units): ~ 120 km Note that these are RL specs and may not apply fully to Lock-on ditto. The Rezky(Krivak II class) and Neustrashimy frigates are anti-submarine oriented and armed with ASW missiles(which aren't implemented in Lock-on). Cheers, - JJ. JJ
Colt40Five Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 Yeah I meant Ship to land. Thanks for the info Alfa! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 I have some notes from a couple of years ago, when I was bored and checked out the naval gun ranges. Ticonderoga - 15km Perry - 15km Moscow - 20km Neustrashimy - 21.5km Rezky - 21.5km Molniya - 15km Albatros - 6km (seems short - you might want to double check this!) You may not realise it, but if you set up targets close enough then the ships that have 20 or 30mm AA guns will engage surface targets with these weapons, didn't note down the range but seem to recall it was 2 or 3 km. JEFX Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Thanks JJ for your incredible knowledge! I think that many specs in Lockon are close to RL specs. I dont think that the Molnya in Lockon fires the SSMs missiles... I like this thread, because for mission building, it is always invaluable info to know the ranges (not always documented) of artillery. BRD and JJ what are your numbers for ground vehicles in LO? Brit_Radar_Dude Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 JEFX -For Ground units, my written Notes from 2 years ago seem to agree with your post. I have some ranges in nm and some in km but converting the figures in my head seem to match yours. I also found some firing rates... Smerch - 12 rounds in 40 secs Grad - 40 rounds in 20 sec Gvozdika - 6 rounds per min Akatsia - 4 rounds per min Msta - 8 rounds per min Bereg - 10 rounds per min Nona - 8 rounds per min [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose!
