cant contact jtac campaign

Hello, i was wondering if somebody could help me, im trying to contact jtac for a campaign mission, in the mission briefing it says the jtac fm radio frequency is 30.000 which is what the fm radio is pre set as, i try to contact jtac, and the option menu after i press f4 for jtac are blacked out.. How do i set up the radio to contact jtac? the radio is set to t/r.

Are you using "easy communication"? If you see an item greyed out I think it means there's no JTAC in that mission.

If using Easy communications, it has bugs and doesn't work so well

If using Real communications, are you using the correct PTT mike button for the FM radio (L-shift+Num-) to talk to him

ok thanks, i wasnt using the right intercomm switch, one more question how do i contact ground crew for re arm and refuel, that option is also blacked put, i tried it with all hotas mic switches (aft, forward, up, down) also can jtac be KIA, i called in jtac and was attacking ground targets, after the first target

(a tank) i called in target destroyed and jtac said continue attack, i destroyed a few more tanks and said target destroyed and i stopped getting communications or new targets from them, i set communication time to 1 hour so it shouldnt have timed out

srry one more question, is there also a switch to enable auto pilot? on my co pilots plane when i jumped planes after crashing pressing A worked to enable autopilot but on my plane i just hear a click for the switch and no tone for autopilot, and autoplot does not work

one more question how do i contact ground crew for re arm and refuel, that option is also blacked put, i tried it with all hotas mic switches (aft, forward, up, down)

You will have to (can't quit remember exactly):

• Tune your Top AM radio to the Airfield Frequency or
  
• Open your Canopy
  
• Use your PTT mic forward to transmit or
  
• R-alt + \ for transmit on Intercom
  
• Select Ground Crew on radio Menu
  
• If Repairing, Connect ground power or start APU and shut down both Motors
  
• L-ALT + ' for refueling and Rearming

Other bugs creep into mission with each update, I had to go through every DCS mission that comes with DCS World and all of the 3rd party mission that have JTAC and put in the correct Frequencies and Callsigns for the assigned targets as they had all been reset to the default Axeman on 133am.

These problems I describe above still existing in all the supplied campaigns and missions, so I keep my own backup set with fixes applied.

I suspect this is why there is so much problems with the Jtac, not answering and giving no new targets.

Not following his instructions to the letter may also cause issues, but haven't played it enough to say.

All up the default missions and campaigns have a lot of flaws, not just the A-10c, I have looked through the programming of the F-15 and Su-27 / Su-33 campaign mission and whilst they give you something to shoot at, they don't play the way the mission is intended to be played.

ie, they have CAS or SEAD flights hold at a holding point until you radio for their help, but because they are tasked with CAS or SEAD, they never hold at the correct waypoint, if an enemy is anywere withing a 250km radius, they will make a bee line straight to the enemy and engage, if they kill all the available targets, only then will they fly all the way back to the original waypoint track and hold. (Really annoying as they usually all steam ahead and get killed, when it is you that have to clear a path for them and then call them in). Fixing this needs a few more programming actions to get them to do what should really happen.

Can't help ya with that one to much.

there is AutoPilot switch on warthog hotas throttle body - Left throttle button or ('Q' key)

But bare in mind the A-10c doesnt have path following Autopilot, just altitude, atitude, Bank.

Not necessarily, easy communication does not change anything in functionality of the radios, they still stay realistic. Easy comms just adds a script that dials in frequencies for you, and also lists frequencies next to selections on overlay radio menu. You still need to bring up overlay menu for right radiostation (mic switch up, right, down for VHF AM, UHF, VHF FM. Campaign JTAC uses VHF FM. Make sure it is powered on and frequency dialed in manually by you, if you do not prefer to dial them quickly with "easy comm"

ok so i found i was looking at the intercom panel, and when i set it to intercomm and then used the forward mic switch to contact ground crew it would automatically switch the dial off int, idk if its a glitch, i found out that easy communications was on, so i turned that off and now i can contact ground crew. and idk whats goingon with the autopilot, i tried using the hotas "q" switch and then autopilot but it still wont work.

what you described does happen very frequently.

okay thanks, im also having trouble calling forward ground forces, on the last campaign mission, i couldnt find the radio menu for ground forces, it said it was in f10 for other, and on a campaign mission before that after i called in ground forces after taking out all ground targets they never moved and the option stayed there.

Help me help you, Need specifics as to which campaign and mission number or sortie name within that campaign you are talking about, as they are very similiar between missions.

Take note:

A10-c CA Georgian Hammer campaign - (you control your ground forces with the Combined Arms modules interface) - they don't have waypoints to follow, you have to control them on were to go and what to do.

Georgian Hammer Campaign - AI controlled ground forces, with radio command to call up and activate there advance.

Once I know the mission, I can test it to see what might be wrong with it.

Open the canopy and ask ;)

Seriously you don't need the radio if the canopy is open
