Wrecking Crew Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I want to spawn a number of figures in midair -- that being of the ejected pilot figure for the coalition -- with the view of that figure before the parachute opens, while the guy is in free-fall. The altitude at which this group (of 1 to n) needs to appear needs to correspond to an aircraft that is dropping these HALO jumpers. Second, I want to spawn the same number of the ejected pilot figure with the parachute opening/open at a desired altitude above ground level. When this group (of 1 to n) spawns the first group has to be deactivated -- or -- the first group transitions into the second group with the parachute -- but the opening altitude must be controlled. Ripcord Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 (edited) WC I would think not possible given the tools we have to work with right now. Plus, even if you could find a workaround to get that ejected pilot to open his chute when/where you needed, on command, then you would have a downed pilot standing there on the ground, once he landed safely -- probably not what you want. I know that in Janes FA-18 (not relevant here except that it had the guy in charge) we had the 'drop cargo' function for certain aircraft -- it would prompt S-3 ASW aircraft to drop their sonobuoys, and for the C-130 with the paratrooper loadout, it would make them drop their airborne paratroopers (maybe IL-76 had this too, cannot remember now). So who knows, maybe some of these cool features will find their way into this sim eventually. I also fiddled with an airborne paratrooper mission. I simply used radio transmissions as 'play by play' announcements that the jumpers were away, followed by the C-130 or Il-76 turning back shortly thereafter. Then after a few minutes (allowing time for the descent) I spawned the AI troops on the ground, placing them right about where I figured they would intend to land.
