Home Fries Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Given the number of skin packs I've released (and updated), creating and updating individual threads would be a huge undertaking not worth the effort. Therefore, I'm consolidating my current and future UH-1 skin releases to this thread. I'll start with the most recent addition to the collection: the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Skin pack, which represents a series of reinforced composite squadrons over the last 20 years or so. The skin pack is designed to allow mission builders to create medium to large scale helicopter operations allowing unique helicopters in each slot, but without requiring a lot of texture overhead. There are a total of 168 combinations encompassing all reinforced squadrons. Here are some screenshots: The file can be found here, as well as CombatAce and LOF. Likewise, all of my files can be found using the link in my signature. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
Home Fries Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 In building the MEU Skin Pack, I made some global updates to common textures that have been incorporated into my other US skin packs. Therefore, all of my Huey skin packs have been updated (though some with additional improvements as well). US Army Desert Skins (CombatAce, LOF) Medal of Honor Skin Pack (CombatAce, LOF) USMC Vietnam Skin Pack (CombatAce, LOF) USN HA(L)-3 Seawolves (CombatAce, LOF) 2/17th Cavalry Vietnam Skin Pack (CombatAce, LOF) 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) Vietnam Skin Pack (CombatAce, LOF) 4th Aviation Battalion Vietnam Skin Pack (CombatAce, LOF) Of note the USMC Vietnam Skin Pack now includes two additional skins from HML-167. These skins will also be included in an upcoming HMLA-167 Skin Pack. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
Home Fries Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 (edited) The 335th Assault Helicopter Company (AHC) Vietnam Skin Pack has just been released. The skin pack contains eight skins, including two skins from the 82nd Aviation Battalion, which later became the 335th AHC. Here are some screenshots: "A" Company of the 82nd AvBn deployed to Vietnam in 1965 with glossy black Hueys, as is shown here: Within a year, they developed a two-tone camouflage scheme. In 1966 they became the 335th Assault Helicopter Company "Cowboys". During the 1966-67 timeframe, they had a unique four-color scheme for their recovery helicopter, named "Horse Thief." They finally went to conventional US Army paint schemes in 1968. The skin pack can be found here, as well as CombatAce and LOF. Home Fries Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) HMLA-167 "Warriors" Skin Pack has been released! The HMLA-167 "Warriors" Skin Pack has been released! Marine Light Helicopter Squadron (HML) 167 was commissioned in April 1968 in Vietnam, and flew the UH-1E in combat operations until June 1971, where it was the last Marine helicopter squadron in Vietnam. Of note, HML-167 was the first unit to drop a bomb from a helicopter, accomplished with the use of the Helicopter Trap Weapon (HTW). In June 1971, HML-167 returned stateside to MCAS New River, North Carolina, as part of the 2nd Marine Air Wing. In 1972, HML-167 received the UH-1N Twin Huey, which it would fly until 2012 when the UH-1N was replaced by the UH-1Y Venom. In 1984, HML-167 received its first AH-1T Cobras and became a composite squadron of Cobras and Hueys. HML-167 was redesignated Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 167 in April 1986, and as such designated as a permanent composite squadron of both Cobras and Hueys. HMLA-167 began upgrading to the AH-1W Super Cobra in late 1989. Today the HMLA-167 "Warriors" fly the UH-1Y Venom and the AH-1W Super Cobra. This is a collection of eleven UH-1 skins representing HMLA-167. The skins included are: TV-30 (1969 as HML-167)* TV-29 (1970 as HML-167)* "Santa 1" (1969 as HML-167) TV-30 (1982 as HML-167) TV-11 (1999) TV-03 (ca. 2003) TV-06 (ca. 2003) TV-04 (ca. 2005) TV-06 (ca. 2005) TV-05 (CO bird ca. 2008) TV-00 (UH-1Y CO bird ca. 2013) * TV-29 and 30 (1969-70) are also included in my USMC Vietnam Skin Pack version 1.21 and later. And now, the Screenshots: TV-29, also as seen in the USMC Vietnam Skin Pack "Santa 1", the Huey painted up for Christmas 1969 to go around to all of the nearby villages and spread Christmas Cheer. A UH-1 Circa 2005, with a ca. 2003 bird in the background Commanding Officer's helo, ca. 2008 and CO's helo, ca. 2013 (based on the UH-1Y paint scheme) The skin pack can be found here, as well as CombatAce and LOF. Home Fries Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 theres a dedicated skins thread. I use some common textures in my skins, and often when I make an update to a skin I retroactively apply it to my other applicable skins. That would get lost in a generic skin thread. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
Home Fries Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 All of my Huey skin packs except for the 335th AHC have been updated to include a "slick" (civ) specific version of the skin that doesn't show the hardpoint shading. 335th AHC will follow, but I first would like to update the camouflage patterns using upuaut's templates. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
