scaflight Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 (edited) Hi. A two-fold bug report. 1. My tests show AI fires rear-aspect IR missiles at any aspect, and that they achieve a hit with this tactic. R-60, R-60M and R-3S tested. When I attempt the same tactic, my IR missiles refuse to move. (7 samples. Mig-21 at Good and later Excellent. 32,000 feet, 40 km apart.) 2. They always achieve radar lock before firing IR missiles. This gives an unnecessary clue about a missile being fired. Additionally I suppose it could be a clue that the IR missile gets radar tracking capabilities, but that's speculation on my part. I saw your post regarding AI wonkiness but thought to file this regardless. Thank you for the product. Edited March 12, 2015 by Cobra847
Dolphin887 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Noted, thank you. As you most likely expect, nothing we can do concerning AI behaviour. Power through superb knowledge, training and teamwork. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Schmidtfire Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 This can be fixed, Im quite sure about that. For example.. AI F-4E armed with Aim-9P (rear aspect) will never shoot them as full-aspect IR missiles. The same behaviour should be expected from AI Mig-21 with R-3S. With the upcoming F-14 and F-18, it would be great to have the Mig21 as an adversary. But right now, it's only possible with "guns only".
tintifaxl Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 If rear apect missiles hit when launched at 12 o'clock then I would think it's the missiles code that needs to be reworked - a job ED has to do. Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.
Schmidtfire Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 If rear aspect works well with the Aim-9P for F-4E, F-5 and other aircrafts... It should be possible to make the rear aspect missilies work for the Mig-21. Sure, there is a lot of work that can be done to the missile behaviour atm. My guess is that more or less all IR missiles fired by AI is all-aspect, but the AI will only fire Aim-9P's from a 6 o' clock position to hide that fact. So a quick solution would be to make sure that the Mig-21 AI only fires it's IR missiles from a 6 o' clock position. Just my thoughts about this...
