I think there are just nine items that don't functional at all remaining on the F86F (i.e. can't be clicked or mapped, they're just static graphics).

Just wondering if there is any intention to add these items at some point.

Here's a complete list of them.

Rudder Gust Lock Handle

The little speedbrake switch on the throttle is not working.

The throttle is currently missing animations (and clickspots) for

- Speed Brake Switch

- Sight Electrical Cage Button

- Microphone Button

- Rotating Grip

Already reported as ticket #27013.

Landing Gear Warning Test Switch

I think our F-86F-35 does not have a "Landing Gear Unsafe Warning Light Test Pushbutton" on the left forward console. See attachments.

I find it strange that it says "F-86F-1 through F-86F-15 Airplanes do not have the landing gear warning light test button" on Figure 1-15 when only some F-86F-25 and F-86F-30 have it.

If we don't have the "Landing Gear Unsafe Warning Light Test Pushbutton", we should be able to test the "Landing Gear Unsafe Warning Light" via the "landing gear warning horn cutout button" (see file "-1 p1-42 (revised 31-07-1967).png").

Yes agreed, we have the text for the test switch 'LDG. GR WARN. LT. TEST', but the push button itself has been replaced with a panel fastener.

No_Function_004a.jpg

Of course this test button illuminated the light in the landing gear handle, the 'Landing Gear Unsafe Warning Light', which itself is not modelled yet (as noted here).

If our F-86F-35 doesn't have this test button, then the text shouldn't be there either and pushing the 'Landing gear warning horn cutout button' should test the light instead.

Fast Slaving Switch (on the Right Forward Console)

No_Function_003a.jpgNo_Function_003b.jpg

I find it strange that this button would have been duplicated like this, there's no reason to have it fitted both on the instrument panel and the right forward console. Perhaps the statement "... on the instrument panel or on the right forward console." doesn't suggest it was fitted in both locations, but rather one or the other.

In which case it might be better to remove one or the other and not have both.

Agreed. I updated the existing ticket (#27011) accordingly.

Camera Lens Switch

I also would like to see this whole panel operational, but was unable to find more information about the (Maurer?) P-2 aerial strike camera.

For example, what is the difference between filters F1, F2 and F3?

According to the manual, the rotary switch has the settings "BRIGHT", "HAZY" and "DULL", but in the sim we have a "MODE 1" setting instead of "BRIGHT". Can someone find a real photo of the panel so we can compare?

I only found this video of a different version which is showing the adjusting of the lens opening:

If we can gather the relevant information, I will create a feature request for implementation of the panel.

Maurer P-2

Diaphragm control

Depending on the P-2 version, the desired diaphragm range (A, B or C) is set on the camera body or is

determined by the selected shutter speed. In the last case, a coupling between shutter speed and

diaphragm determines the diaphragm range (see tables below). Remote setting of the aperture within

the preselected range (bright, hazy, dull) is possible with the use of the diaphragm control selector

switch. An Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) system isavailable as well (not shown).

Here's what I could find for you:

From the 'F-86F Flight Manual'

click for larger versions

Could it be that it's just been mislabelled in the sim and it should say "BRIGHT" instead of "MODE 1"?

The only pics I can find aren't very clear,

P2_Strike_Camera_003a.jpg

P2_Strike_Camera_003b.jpg

P2_Strike_Camera_003c.jpg

But even in these unreadable pics, you can still tell the circuit breakers weren't labelled "F1", "F2", and "F3".

It looks like we would have to get the camera fitted as a load out option as well.

Camera panel textures:

  • Rotary switch now has the correct labels "BRIGHT", "HAZY" and "DULL".
  • Camera lens switch now has the missing "CAMERA LENS" label below the switch
  • I can't find good reference images for the filters. "F1" was changed to "MAIN", but I don't know what "F2" (looks like three letters) and "F3" (looks like two words) should say. Who can help?
