A-10A Country Spawning

Is there a way I can place my a10a standalone to fly for other countries besides the us? Like, say Canada, Germany, or the Netherlands? Its kinda boring having to fly for just one country.

You have to modify db_countries.lua in your 'Scripts\Database' directory. Make a backup, then open it, find the A10a in the USA area, and copy and paste it into another country. This will allow you to chose it from the list for that country in the ME.

EDIT: The area you are looking for is from Line 743 down if you haven't touched this file before.

Ok. Do I need to replace the original with the copy, or put it in my users folder? And how do I Copy/Paste the a10a too?

So I make a copy of the file of the db_countries file. Ok, done. Where do I go from there?

The copy is just a backup incase something goes wrong. In the original do this:

local units = country:get("USA").units

(Line 1062 I think, I've modified this file so I'm not sure if thats the standard line) Find

cnt_unit( units.Planes.Plane, "A-10A");

Highlight with the mouse, then press CTRL+C to copy.

Then find

local units = country:get("WHAT_EVER_COUNTRY_YOU_WANT").units

select the line below it and press CTRL+V to paste what you copied.

Yes the file needs to be replaced where it is. Ensure you make a backup first in case you accidentally muck it up.

I found it in Notepad, but when I tried to open it up into the ME, it doesn't show in the selector. I paste it where the gapped line is, or under the other list of planes? Its frustrating af right now.

Edit: Now I'm trying to save the changes in the original file, but it either has to be in text or its denied. Wtf? how can this be fixed?

Where you pasted it should be fine. You are editing the original and keeping it in the same path yeah? If you attach the file here on a post, i'll check it out, and reattach it with the mods you want.

Here's the file, in text from notepad. The A10 is pasted under the plane categories of Canada, Germany, and The Netherlands:

Thats odd. To me it all looks fine. Try the file attached. I've used notepad++ to save it. I've heard stories about the standard notepad stuffing up the encoding on some files. So give this one a go a see how you go.

Failing that man, I honestly have no idea what's going on. And my instructions were for 1.5, didn't realize you were still on 1.2, the files are different between versions, so I can't test this one as I don't have 1.2 installed anymore.

If this doesn't work, maybe someone else can chime in?

Alright, I'll give it one last go. If this doesn't work, its a lost cause.

And yes, I have 1.2 still, hence why my sig proves the call for help.

It sucks really, but if I used 1.5 even at its lowest res and graphics, it still won't cut it.
