MBot
After my first weeks of playing, I have growing concerns how DCS's AI is able to handle the very specific style of flying of the Viggen. Now I understand that AI is ED's territory and not LNS's. Most of this issues are in fact years old and very well known. With the Viggen I feel they become serious problems though. I think that LNS should bring them forward to ED again, emphasizing the impact on their module. First let's have a look at low level flying: AI flight of 4 set to fly at the lowest possible altitude of 30m AGL. The AI leader flies at not too impressive 48m AGL, even over completely flat ocean. All wingmen fly considerably higher. Same situation from the wingman's perspective at 117m AGL. This time with the player flying low. The wingman following at considerable altitude. The same problem over land, again with an AI leader and wingman. AI flight set to fly 30 m AGL, but spend little effort to actually fly low over rough terrain. Every now and then the AI has a complete breakdown. Here an AI flight leader climbs to over 1200m AGL instead of holding the set 30m AGL. As a strike fighter, flying at low level to avoid detection should be the primary means of defense for the Viggen. But AI flights fly in a way that make early detection inevitable. And even if the player flies a proper NOE profile, his AI wingmen hang above him like beacons. If the mission is set up with ground based early warning radar, this will almost always lead to interception by enemy fighters. Next topic will be attack profiles. ricktoberfest
Nothing new here. Same problems with A10c. We in fact didn't even have radar shadows until (relatively) recently. It will all be worked on in time I'm sure. Until then the standard response is play multiplayer -Tapatalk
