Blue nosed bastards campaign going backwards

I played through the second bombing escort mission. Started the next mission. Forgot what number, think mission five. It was a ground attack mission. Couldn’t finish it so I exited. Logged on today and loaded up the mission pushed fly and noticed I was back in the second bomber escort mission. Thought that was weird so I exited and now my campaign starts me off on first bomber mission,mission 3. I just checked again after that and it has me in the fighter sweep mission, mission 2. Why is my campaign going backwards? How do I get back to the mission I should be on? I really dont want to spend 6 hours playing the missions over again.

Hello! This is very strange indeed, possibly a general bug? Try running "repair" on your DCS, if that doesn't help you can restore your progress by editing the logbook file:

or, you can open the missions one by one in order via mods/campaigns/Blue nosed...

I tried opening them in mission editor but i dont have a mods folder. I watched youtube videos of people doing it and i dont have the some of the folder. I am playing on the steam version if that makes a difference. I am playing on version 2.5.5.41371 stable, not open beta, which I believe is the most up to date stable version.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I just past mission 2 and went on to mission 3 and crashed because my son wanted something so I just let the plane crash since I just took off and now I am back on mission 2 again. Think I am gonna ask steam for a refund. This campaign is busted.

I'm sorry to hear you still have these issues. Campaign progression is not really a campaign related issue, unless the designer failed to put mission 1, 2 ,3 one after the other in different stages in a 1 minute exercise - which I hope I didn't :) I've heard about this issue even in other campaigns, but for 99.99% of the people it works.

That's why I'm trying to figure out what can cause this for you. I'm not familiar with the Steam version unfortunately. If I'm not mistaken you have a "SteamApps" folder which contains the game? Open it in windows explorer and try to run a search for "P-51D The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney" - there should be a "campaigns" folder somewhere, even if under a different folder.

This should work as a plan C.

Plan A: Try to create a new pilot profile in game. I'm not sure this will work, but maybe...

Plan B: Mission progression is handled by the logbook.lua file under the mission editor folder.

Go here:

C:\Users\...\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\

And delete the folder "Mission Edtor".

Then run a "reapair" on DCS.

You will lose your progress in all campaigns, but hopefully the bugged .lua file will be sorted.

If it doesn't help, try to reach out to the ED team, maybe they have some better idea what broke your campaign progression handling.
