Frederf Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 ABRIS is driving me crazy at the moment. I've decided that I wanted to fly the Deployment campaign On the Other Side mission using an ABRIS & PVI flight plan of my own choosing but I am running into troubles. 1. There's no way to start the mission before take off time so I have all of 0 seconds to do about 30 minutes worth of work. 2. I cannot activate VNAV cuing to save my life. 3. The ABIRS defaults to HH'MM'SS'' format coordinates and the PVI HH'MM.MM format. You can change ABRIS but only for the session. Can I change a .lua to make that setting permenant? 4. I cannot set my initial fuel. 5. I cannot set my IWP ETA.
nemises Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Abris and PVI pre-planning is done in the mission editor. Initial fuel is also set as a mission parameter, though, if there is a refuelling vehicle at your takoff FARP , you could request refuel to the amount you want (though only in increments of 25%) You should think about opening the mission in the ME, and saving it as a new name, then manipulating what you want... you can change the mission start time to be 30 mins before the briefed Takoff time if you want...you can also set the fuel load exactly as you want, and re-organise the Waypoints, which will automatically update both ABRIS and PVI nav points. IWP ETA is a function of the planned airspeed's enroute, so this can also be modified per nav point in the ME. You can also run the new copied mission in "prepare" mode, and add in manual ABRIS annotations if you want. To do all this live in the cockpit though?..sorry NFI , havent delved into the ABRIS deeply enough for replanning on the fly sorry :( GL!
Frederf Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 "Abris and PVI pre-planning is done in the mission editor." Nonsense! There is no mission editor for campaign missions. I mean you can crack open the mission file in the editor, edit it, and then regroup it into the campaign but that's not practical for planning purposes. Also you can certainly program ABRIS and PVI on the fly, given some time. Having to ME a mission just to have some planning control is like having to rewire the radio to change your music station... unacceptable. I don't mean actual fuel in the aircraft, I mean fuel in the fuel table of the ABRIS. I think I managed to do most of it, I just think there's this "0 KG" number at the bottom of the FPL page that isn't updating, probably because it only updates when passing waypoints? I suppose a screenshot would help. The IWP ETA should definitely be editable on the fly in ABRIS. The manual says so. I just can't get it to stick. I might be trying to edit an activated flight plan? That wouldn't make too much sense since all of the other fields are still editable. I swear I tried in the most unactivated state. Overall my biggest concern is getting VNAV to work. None of the developer notes, manuals, etc I've seen explain just how you go about activating VNAV or even show it working. They point out the graduated gauge and explain how to fill in the fields but it never seems to work, even in the pre-built missions. I'm just curious if anyone has ever gotten VNAV to work, ever. I figure if I really really have to I can start making cold start/ 30 min to T/O mission edits. That wouldn't be the end of the world.
