pengjn Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Dear all, I have just finishing building my first rig (i7 + gtx 285), which i bought because I thought BS looked amazing. I have been playing for about an hour and have run into an annoying problem.... I want the collective to be manually controllable using the slider on my joystick but i need all the help i can get with the avioncis. If i select Easy Avionics it seems to make the collective automatic but if i deselect Easy Avionics then the collective is controlled by the slider but i have no clue how to use any of the weapons aiming kit. Any ideas? Sorry for being a total noob. :) Cheers Jimbo DCS 2.0 NTTR, EVGA GTX980 Ti Hybrid, 4790k, 16GB, 27" Apple Cinema Display, Thrustmaster HOTAS, Saitek Combat pedals, TrackIR 5 and...Oculus Rift CV1. Panzertard Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 (edited) Suggestion from another rookie - I have more deaths than kills \o/ But do switch to real mode (affects all missions etc, in the option). You WILL learn to fly this honky thing, it's actually not that hard after a few repetitions. :) Do all the training sessions - you'll get a lot of help from them Print out the real keyboard chart, for reference. Pause when you read it, looking for a key or five. Learn to trust the Autopilot damper mode - use trim often. (AP is often enabled when you start Training and Missions) When you start to feel safe, in control - start learning a bit more about the instruments. But first; start to learn to take off, fly, land. In a couple of evenings you'll get the hang of it ;=) Extra tip; When checking Options, controls - use the "real" section for normal sim. The "game" section is for arcade only. You will recognize it ingame by the big onscreen radar (allseeing eye). Edited May 16, 2009 by Panzertard The mind is like a parachute. LastRifleRound Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Have you seen the producer's note series on the shkval? That should help you getting started with targeting when combined with the one on weapons employment parts 1 + 2. They can be found on ED's home page.
