I just ran across this...

I am playing with it now. Still learning how to set things up, looks promising.

Hi,

Good question snipey :)

A new version has been released today which fixes some stability issues and adds multi-script support when dealing with the same DLL instance (multi-threaded).

Hi, guys!

Does anyone know if there has been any success story in making SFIPs work in DCS?

Well, I developed this module for LUA thinking that DCS was also exposing API to deal with it.

I haven't tried since as noone looked interested in it.

Do you have some knowledge about DCS LUA API?

Perhaps I can go back to my LUA module if someone can help testing in DCS BS.

chrilith,

I was playing with your module a little bit. I found that lua for windows has to be installed as the Dcs lua will not pick it up. I am still tinkering with it here and there. I was able to get mfds ( bs1) exported to the fips, still learning how to adjust bit mapping so I only get "noise". Still learning how all of this works. X-52 pro now works properly and sends strings , so thanks for fixing that.

I'd be very interested in helping/testing, as I am very eager to get FIPs (and possibly, some other Saitek panels?..) operational in DCS. I can test it in DCS BS2 and A10C, I have three FIPs and the Switch Panel, I have the X52Pro just in case (although, I am not using it in DCS) the only problem is I am completely dumb in programming, but with a precise step-by-step instructions I can do the testing.

PM me if anything...

Let's join forces and try and do these things usable in DCS! I am not a programmer, but am eager to test things, if I can be of any help...

What were you able to get out of your X52Pro and how?

Nice to hear some news about that :)

algerad3, let me know how I can help. Where is the doc for DCS LUA?

SV_huMMer, I think algerad3 may send you some stuff to test if he finally deal with the DCS APIs.

Chrilith, thanks for your great work! I am looking very much forward to hearing from algerad3 on his technique.

In the meantime, did you ever look into any other Saitek ProFlight panels? Given your experience in digging into Saitek SDK, you may be an invaluable guy to help us in the community in getting other Saitek stuff to work.

As I mentioned, I have a Saitek Switch Panel, and would gladily provide whatever assistance a programming noob like me could do.

SV_huMMer thank for your enthusiasm :)

About other panels, I don't know if Saitek provides APIs to cntrol them directly.

Perhaps I'll heck it later when we have confirmation that FIPs can be controlled properly with my module.

Well, looks like we may have a team together. I am currently on a ship in Alaska and internet is a bit spendy here. I will try and put more time into this and send info when I get back home ( 12 days from here.) I am not much of a programmer but, I have been learning quite a bit. I will send more information when possible.

WOW, have a nice trip! :-) And looking forward to getting some info on this!

It looks like all Saitek ProFlight devices are somehow managed in a similar way. At least, FSX does control them (LEDs status, numbers on Multi Panel display, etc.). Could potentially be very interesting... A BIP panel, for instance, could be a fantastic fit for Ka-50.

@algerad3, sure.

In the meantime, can anyone point me to the DCS LUA documentation? :)

@SV_huMMer can you look at your Saitek installation folder and see if there is a SDK folder of any kind?

chrilith, I don't think there's a document on DCS LUA, at least not in the users' hands :-) I am in contact with ED guys begging them to share something, will let you know.

And I'll look for the folders you're asking.

Found this

Still searching....

Oh, sorry - I thought you needed a technical document developers are using. If this one works - it's just great!

chrilith, hi!

As promised, I checked my Saitek installation folders. It looks like SDK is only available for FIP.

In any case, I attach two archives with full content of /Program Files/Saitek and /Program Files(x86)/Saitek folders.

See if there's anything useful. The test panel files are actually little programs that allow you to test the functions of your panel(s).

Saitek_Program Files.rar

Saitek Program Files(x86).rar

Let's focus on FIP and X52 for now.

Is there anything else I can do/check?
