to assign a button command on your mouse

i want to assign ALT-C to one of my mouse buttons for activation of cursor in cockpit..

Without a programmable mouse, something like AutoHotKey should do what you want.

so theres no way to assign it in options controls via the sim

like a key on the joystick for example

If that function existed in one of the controller lua files, you might be able to do it with some editing of the mouse.lua but I think it is coded elsewhere in the sim.

 

Now that I think about it, I do seem to vaguely recall that something like a double click of the middle mouse button will do what you want. That might be an erroneous recollection though.
