Whirley Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Today I shut off the battery before toggling the main fuel switch to off. The engine will keep running in this case until you toggle the battery switch on and off again. Attached a track reproducing the issue (first engine start then the 2 step shutdown). Is this intentional behaviour? If not, then please treat it like a very minor problem. In my opinion it is not so important if such edge cases are correct.engineShutdownFailure.trk
MTFDarkEagle Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I think you would need electrical power for the fuel valve to operate. I.e. when battery is off as well as the DC generator disconnected from the bus, no power would be provided to the valve, thus rendering it "stuck" open or closed (open in your case). b00ce Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 The Fuel switch gets power from the DC Essential bus (Battery). Once you turn the battery off, it gets no power and ceases to function. The Governor and fuel Boost pumps (controlled by the fuel sw. as well) also operate on the DC Ess. bus which means they should turn off when battery power is lost. That being said, the engine has a fuel pump built into it. In other words the engine will continue to run until there is no more fuel or air. :smartass: LG 34UC97 34" 3440x1440 monitor | 2x GTX-980 G1 Gaming I7-5820k @ 3.3GHz | 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 @ 2133Mhz Samsung 840 EVO 120GB & 1TB SSDs | Seagate 3TB HDD TM Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Combat Pedals
Whirley Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 Thanks for the replies! I think I'll play around a bit more with the generator, battery settings and bus setting for the voltage gauge and check out the different outputs for fun and better understanding.
A229th Reaper Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Setting the throttle to 'Off' will shut down the engine. (which by the way to do so the battery needs to be on since the Idle Stop is an electric switch, and needs power in order to move the throttle to the off position) What system?...Not quite sure, I think its a 64bit system cause the keyboard says 'Commodore64'.
