1. Your question is a little vague, could you please state what problem you are having.
2. By your statement I take it that you have never used the pause key or quick the mission before it was finished. My hat is off to you for playing like that. But if by some chance you have used those buttons, then your statement is 'moot' because using those buttons you will have broken the reality you are trying to achieve. The Idea of a point system was not to tell you how many points you have, but to allow you to continue on with the campaign without being stopped for not compleating a mission successfully. With the point system you would not know if the campaign was a success until you finished it.
3. Stratos; Inorder to fix the port gunner problem (until BST or ED does it) create a folder named 'uh-1' in your (DCS World\Bazar\Textures) folder. and place your patch file there. Note* It will have to be named 'pilot_UH1_patch_1_cavalery.tga.dds' How DCS handles ZIP texture files is if a folder by the same name as the zip file is in the folder DCS will use any texture files from the folder instead of the ones in the zip file. This way if there is an update, while it may change the zip texture file, it won't alter the ones in the folder you created.
4. Leonpo; Great app congrats. Would it be possible to add the Radar Alt gauge behind the altimeter?
5. How old are you? (rhetorical question) I only mention it to give you an idea of how long you're going to be at this. You will NEVER be done, there will always be something new you think of or want to change or do different or upgrade. I started some 30+ years ago... it was simple I only wanted a joystick to make it easier on me. (wish I knew then what I know now). Then I needed more controls, maybe some switches...how about a few lights...you know what lets build a pit. Started with simple Cessna...built, dismantled rebuild multi engine pit... dismantled, rebuild Jetliner pit... dismantled, Currently rebuilding into UH-1H pit. So as you see once you start, you're never done, only temporary satisfaction until the next idea to make it better. Welcome to our world of flight simming, don't forget to kiss the wife once and a while and tuck the kids in...oh wait my kids are married, when did that happen!
6. The easiest way to find out if you have a bug or not, the next time it happens, click the 'auto start'. If the Huey does not start, its a bug, if it starts, then you have missed turning something on or off in your startup procedure.
7. Setting the throttle to 'Off' will shut down the engine. (which by the way to do so the battery needs to be on since the Idle Stop is an electric switch, and needs power in order to move the throttle to the off position)
8. What makes a flight sim last over time, is whether of not the DEV's give the users the ability to make mods or changes to the sim and users sharing tips. That is why even though MS has stopped supporting FSX, its still going strong because of users. My hats off you 'ALL' of you who help make our experience more enjoyable. Now if we can only convince Gadroc to give us access to his source info, we could make an interface and gauge pack for the Huey. (Hint, Hint) ;)
9. Abnaxus; Really nice panel, well done. To users of this panel, if you fly using the HUD mode as I do, you may have noticed that the controlsindicator shifts to center when you enter HUD mode. To keep the indicator on the panel all the time you need to edit the ControlsIndicator_page.lua. Line 51 reads... base.controllers = {{"show"},{"screenspace_position",2,-(aspect - (size+collec_shift + rud_shift +3.0*line_width + ds)),0}, {"screenspace_position",1,0,0}} Change it to read... base.controllers = {{"show"},{"screenspace_position",2,-(aspect - (size+collec_shift + rud_shift +3.0*line_width + ds)),0}, {"screenspace_position",1,-(aspect - (size+collec_shift + rud_shift +3.0*line_width + ds)),0}}
10. Just my two cents... What we need is a Campaign where your goals are assigned a point value. The structure would go something like this... your campaign has 5 missions (each worth 20 points for a total of 100%) each mission would have goals (say 5 for example) each worth 20 points. If you complete 4 of 5 you would have 80% success for that mission, which would give you 16% overall campaign score. Replay or Move on to the next mission, (this should be able to be done with the 'Fly Again' or 'Quit' buttons on the debriefing screen) Now all the campaign designer has to do is define what is a successful campaign is... Say 72% overall (key thing here for the fun of it is not tell the player how much they need for success)
11. Anti-collision lights have always for the most part been a rotating beacon. The reason for this is that, a light that is moving is much more annoying to your brain than one that just flashes. You'll notice that aircraft that have flashing Anti-collision are in fact a strobe light (which really didn't come into use until the mid 70's) Since the huey was developed a few decades before their common use it has a rotating one. As far as the Huey I point you to this vid. At about 20sec you start to see the Anti-coll, and about 24sec you get the full effect. It is a whole science behind lights... whether they should rotate, blink or flash and how fast. ( keep in mind that a light especially a red one, that pulses a certain rate can throw an epileptic into a seizure)
12. splash; what problem are you having programing to your throttle?
13. baz, sorry for late reply (I've been away instructing) to answer your question...it would depend on weather or not you had added any mods that change the logbook. (ie.. additional squadrons icons). But you can always try it, nothing to lose. as a side note... I really don't pay attention to the log book...and that is because you can edit it and change the info to how ever you like. (ie.. have it show that you have 10000 hrs flying time, or a higher rank or even medals)
14. As Flamin_Squirrel said its on the underside of the collective, Its like a trigger switch.
15. Actually Splash they are self explanatory. Hoist switch controls the up/down movement of the hoist. (not fitted on our uh-1h) some huey's had a hoist mounted inside the right door And the control on the collective you ask about controls the search light mounted in the belly of the uh-1h (this is on our sim and is functional as is the landing light also on the collective) The light towards the nose is the landing light, the one just behind the the skid fore cross tube is the search light, (and just incase someone asks the hook is the cargo hook not the hoist) Hope this clears things up for you.
16. Baz; Before the update had you added any mods concerning the log book, like extra squadrons etc? (if so and you have not added them back to the game this can cause an error reading the log) If not, your only option is to make a backup copy of your logbook, then delete the logbook. DCS will create a new one when you restart the game.
17. Nealius; Are you running DCS as an administrator? This is sometimes necessary for a program to make changes, especially on your root drive. SIX; The engine covers are part of the IR suppression system, at least it is on my computer. You can have Hard points without having the engine cover or exhaust extension.
18. upuaut; in the ME click on the 'Additional Properties for Aircraft' icon and uncheck the Exhaust IR Suppressor
19. The easy answer to that question is.. Not everyone uses one mod over another. What is best for someone might not be for others. Its best to let the individual choose their mods. (just my 1/2 cent)
20. As far as ranks... (as with all things military Nothing is written in stone.) Normally the highest rank is the ship commander and sits in the left seat. But being the commander he can sit where he likes. During Vietnam many of the pilots were wo1 (especially their first tour). It was also not uncommon to have a wo as ship commander while a commissioned officer was onboard for stick time. But that was a different era. Please remember while very accurate, DCS is for enjoyment not historical accuracy. Enjoy the expierence so few get to do for real.
21. Just to give you a heads up... the texture map has changed for the patch texture in 1.2.7. (However it is not reading correctly at the moment) Below is pictures showing the mapping of 1.2.6. vs 1.2.7. and also what the game is currently mapping.
