Well that is good enough for me. :)

I remembered from GA it was set to flash before start up but went off of a few vids I had watched.

Going to amend our setup - Like the Flash better any hoo.

OK one question about the Moody setup:

So we are in the cockpit and just have power on, getting radio checks done, making sure everyone is in, doing a quick brief.

Do we have Position to Steady and then change them to Flash once we get Start Up clearance as a warning to ground crew?

Go straight to flash because you need the APU running to power the lights in the first place. You should also do the briefing before you're in the pit really.

These should help you out a lot:

Thanks Howie and Snoopy,

Yeah I looked at the 476 stuff for a few weeks now. You guys are really dialed in.

I am a member over at the 476 forums and enjoy reading about things you guys do. Snoopy is a true asset.

If I was to join a Squadron the 476 would be the one for me.

Again appreciate the info.

Not sure about military rules, but for FAA in the US for commercial or GA, the white strobes are only allowed on the runway for take-off, in-flight, and landing.

Strobes are only turned ON after receiving t/o clearance from tower and starting t/o and after landing when exiting to the first exit ramp (transfer to ground control).

Strobes are a visual indicator to tower and other aircraft that a t/o or landing is taking place and the runway is in use and also to indicate intentions visually.

Again, no idea how this applies to military aviation as I didn't go through that training. Also, commercial aviation or GA IFAIK do not have flashing navigation lights - they do have red rotating strobes that must be on whenever engines are starting or on (also visual indicator to ground crew). Nav lights are steady all the time.

Strobes OFF prior to taking the active should be about as universal as anything can get.

Why?

Aircraft on the ramp with strobes on wreak havoc with the situational awareness of others in general and the situational awareness of the tower in particular. Those strobes are very disruptive to our ability to see what is going on around them. Wearing green clothes will not change that.
