Bunyap Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 (edited) The first videos in a series called "On the Range" are complete and available on Youtube. These are 10-15 minute tutorial videos covering whatever topic I happen to be focusing on at the moment. Right now, the focus is on systems and weapons employment in the Flaming Cliffs 3 series of aircraft. If you have suggestions for the channel or have a request for a tutorial on a specific aircraft or weapon system please leave a comment on youtube or post it right here. If you find these useful be sure to check out my complete fly-through of "The Valley" campaign available here: A-10A Warthog - The Valley Campaign Playlist It features 13 hours of A-10A Warthog gameplay with detailed commentary from the perspective of an experienced flight simmer provided throughout. Windsortheater Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Was this done with 1.2.7? One thing I have noticed in 1.2.7 is significant trim down from level flight when SELECTING the cannon as the active weapon. When deselecting level flight resumes. I am sure this is related to the PAC system, however I think automatic trimming down should only occur when FIRING the cannon, not when SELECTING it. Have you noticed this? I have not tried the 1.2.8 beta to see if the issue persists. On another note - I've noticed that to destroy T55's it takes a considerable amount of ammunition with the GAU and multiple runs at a single target. In this vid I didn't see you actually destroy a tank (smoke, explosion). How many runs would you take at a t55 to take it out? BTR's, BRDM's etc... are destroyed like paper vehicles it seems in this game.
Home Fries Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Well done. Also subbed. I wonder if this is because the A-10A in FC3 doesn't use a 2 stage trigger, and GUNPAC is normally stabilized at the first trigger stage. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
Bunyap Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 (edited) Thanks Snachito. :) Yeah, I do not know when it started doing that but there is a definite nose down trim when guns are selected in 1.2.7. I'm not sure about 1.2.8 but I suspect you are right; it seems like a "poor man's PAC" that was put in to help control trim in a dive. I would usually put in about that much trim anyway prior to rolling in so I am sure it was an intentional addition to make tracking targets easier on us. I haven't really tested it out but my impression is that the T-55s (or any tank for that matter) go down on one pass if you get in close enough from a high dive angle. The trouble is that the closer you get, the more effective they are at returning fire. Two or three passes like I demonstrated here usually does the trick. I'm not saying that is right or wrong, its just the way it seems to work. :) Edited April 5, 2014 by Bunyap
