RagnarDa Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Wouldn't it be handy if the Mission Editor included a built-in morse code synthesizer for homing beacons? For example, if you want a homing beacon on a specific unit there would be an option to have it transmit a morse code without having to go the way through generating it yourself, loading the sound file into the mission, and then playing the sound, meanwhile bloating the file size of the mission? It would be very handy for dynamically generated units or scripts that could create homing beacons without requiring the mission designer to insert the sound file(s) into the mission. Your thoughts? 1 DCS AJS37 HACKERMAN There will always be bugs. If everything is a priority nothing is.

Yeah, why not ... On the other hand, a .WAV containing some beeps isn't that big and also I've yet to come across a mission with a lot of morse anyways. I don't think that such a feature would be used really extensively ...morse ... not so big.zip
Winfield_Gold Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 beacons yes, as a messaging system no it would work well for pilots such as ILS or hold pattern beacon but not to transmit actual messages. In this day and age with locked frequency's and coded radios, it's mainly only used between ships or ammatuer radio enthusiasts.

And still I have yet to see missions with THAT many non-standard beacons.
RagnarDa Posted April 11, 2014 Author Posted April 11, 2014 I agree that it might be a niche request, but I mainly wanted it for dynamic scripts like my Medevac script or for homing in on your buddy while in MP-play. Winfield_Gold Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 And still I have yet to see missions with THAT many non-standard beacons. OCB guys use to run missions where you flew to an outer marker beacon. It would beep when you were close to it. Once on the marker it would beep continuously. Missions where mainly CAS type but after the mission was completed, you had to fly to another beacon and circle there until the next task came up. This is before their server went awol. Probably not morse code and it was set up with zones, I think this is still related to the topic though.
