Charly_Owl Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) Remember this short trailer? Well, I've decided to try out some more multiplayer with the DCS P-51D. Some episodes will feature short dogfights, other will include longer missions and show the planning process behind it. Every Mustang you see in here is human-controlled. First episode of a new series of DCS videos about the North American P-51D Mustang. This time, we have a multiplayer session in gorgeous Moonbeam McSwine, featuring Jarhead from the virtual No. 92 Squadron, DooM from the Dogs of War virtual squadron and myself from the 71st. I hunt for a lone FW 190 until I become surrounded by his little friends. Just as I'm about to be shot down, the mighty Red Tails rescue us and save the day. Pretty cool stuff. Charly_Owl Posted April 20, 2014 Author Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) New episode is up! Episode 2 of a new series of DCS videos about the North American P-51D Mustang. This time, we have a full multiplayer mission codenamed Operation Davy Jones. Featuring Balto, Yob, Qwicksilver, Collin and myself. Our objective was to destroy a battleship stationed at an enemy harbor and sink convoy ships patrolling the area. The battleship was heavily defended by anti-air batteries and the bombing runs were hair-raising and very likely to end in a fiery death. 'Makes you respect even more the guys who had to actually do these suicidal runs, doesn't it? My wingman and I get bounced by 190s shortly before we get to the target area. We are literally caught with our pants down, as the aircraft are sluggish and quite heavy with 2 bombs and 6 rockets loaded under our wings. My gun trigger was unarmed and I barely had time to jettison my bombs, so I went defensive to save my skin while my wingman was shot down. Unfortunately, I couldn't save him. Once I shook the Focke-Wulf off my tail, I strafed the ship with rockets without much effect. Eventually, the whole flight is shot down and Balto goes for the kill in the second run (not shown in this video). Overall, a pretty interesting and dangerous adventure.
