Kilrah Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Hi all! I´ve been flying the A10C module for a while and now doing some missions in the campaign in the Su-27. Question: Is it not possible to navigate and have the weapon/radar active at the same time? For now, I have to switch to "1" and look where I am heading, ok looks fine, pressing "2" for BVR radar and 27ER missile. Configurating my radar for TWS mode, search "distance" at 100 km. A while later, back to "1" to see where I am heading, ok looks fine, back to "2" for BVR radar, switch to TWS, changing distance to 100km....etc It is suppose to work like this? I guess not? There must be a function so I can both see my next waypoint and at the same time have an active radar/weapon. Esac_mirmidon Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Use cockpit instruments like HSI and ADI instead reading only the HUD. HUD is for combat, cockpit instruments for navigation. HUD is only and aid. Kilrah Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Yeah, I guess I´m looking a little too much at the HUD :music_whistling:, time to work the Track IR then I guess  ASUS Z370, i7 8086K @ 5,2 Ghz, ASUS Strix GTX 1080, 16GB Ram, TM HOTAS Warthog, TrackIR 5, Saitek combat rudders, 25" 1440p monitor, Oculus Rift
Esac_mirmidon Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Also now the HSI navigation info ( like distance to WP and bearing ) are updated no matter the mode you are using ( combat - navigation ), so you can read it and use it at anytime also in combat. Kilrah Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Yes it seems to work fine. The only thing I am missing is the waypoint number I am currently heading to. ASUS Z370, i7 8086K @ 5,2 Ghz, ASUS Strix GTX 1080, 16GB Ram, TM HOTAS Warthog, TrackIR 5, Saitek combat rudders, 25" 1440p monitor, Oculus Rift
Robin_Hood Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Yes it seems to work fine. The only thing I am missing is the waypoint number I am currently heading to. Indeed, and unfortunately there is no way to know that, or change the waypoint, in any other mode than NAV. Still better than a few years back, when the HSI wouldn't be updated when out of NAV mode :) 2nd French Fighter Squadron
Esac_mirmidon Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Well, maybe in the near future a full DCS Su-27 would bring us a fully navigation panel at the right side of the cockpit. Zabuzard Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I think you're mostly referring to the 'Monitor Display' located at the right which automaticly switches from navigation to fight if turning on combat master modes. In the game theres currently no option to use such navigation data (except of HSI) while searching for enemys with the radar etc. However in real life you could set the radar to 'On' and use all weapons but displaying navigation data (route etc.) at the monitor because in real life the pilot must use a switch on the monitor to change from navigation to combat display. So if they're implementing a fully detailled Su-27 like the A-10C one day you would have that feature you're searching for.
