Hey Sven,

This looks like great fun and is definitely on my list of things to check out!

I am curious, is it possible to run the mission co-op only or is PVP required?

Hi,

Thanks for your interest. Before i can give you an answer, i think i need to understand what is meant with the acronym PVP :book:

The mission is meant to be a co-op mission, in the sense that air forces and ground troops are working together for victory. Planes are to provide air cover, helicopters to attack ground vehicles, and ground troops to make progress. There are also special tasks in the mission with which you can win points and strengthen your coalition attack forces.

The problem that i see when hosting this mission on my server, is that:

1. people are jumping in and out without having a clue what this mission is about, flying around, trying one or two units, and then leaving and never come back.

2. some people join and start killing their own coalition units...

3. there is not an overall understanding about this mission.

4. a lot of people only joining blue (for whatever reason).

And then...

Some people do understand, and spend easily half an evening flying and doing what is meant to be done. Maybe joint a squadron and flying around with some fellow squadron members after having received a proper briefing may help.

It is my dream to join a squadron and fly this mission with a couple of guys (about 8), each 4 red to 4 blue, where all members have had a proper briefing and join the battle.

Another thing, this mission is quite server intensive... My server is missing a bit of the OOMPH to run this mission with sufficient perfornance bandwidth, so sometimes lagging is occuring. My server is a 3.0 GHz old 950 i7 machine with DDR3 running at 1 Ghz.... I guess when you run it on a 4.0 Ghz machine with DDR4 running at 2.3 Ghz, well that i think will make a huge difference!

Was leuk! ;-)

Very well done.. I must say that my fps really takes a dive in this mission.. Losing over 50% compared to a basic mission. Another argument to upgrade I guess.

There is lots of ai on both sides. So playing only blue should not be such a problem. However, the mission is relying on helicopter pilots to transport troops to activate their sam sites, otherwise the valley gets quickly loaded with planes and helicopters.

For blue these are patriots sam installations. There are 3 locations where engineers are required to get them activated. These engineers need to be transported by Hueys.

On the red side, there are sa-6 batteries. These are also awaiting activation by radar controller engineers to be transported from Tskinvali by mi-8 helicopters.

For the rest there are tactical missions, like rescuing people.

Lots of fun, but not for the average pilot...

The rescue missions in Gori Valley have now an ESCORT group.

The escort flies together with the player to:

- Detect targets

- Attack targets where applicable

Radio command options are available when flying. The escort group will detect and report targets detected within a 8km radius.

You can ask the export group to attack these targets, or define certain rule of engagements or defensive actions using the radio command menu.

This implementation puts a whole other dimension to these rescue missions. Using the AI groups, you are in control of the AI, and ensure that they do a good job leading and clearing they way to victory.
