what do you guys think how it works.. the ability to fire before a target passes you or "advance" firing would mean a system of delivering information of target before you can lock/see it on your manpad and firing into that direction while missile re-locks as it closes on the target.. this is my idea at least..

maybe manpads have a link to EW and other SAM's or maybe even Fighter jets etc.. thus knowing enemy target moving in their position or not...

it would make sense.. so far this Verba system is truly one of a kind.. man with this imagine how hard DCS would be for us pilots.. every radar ping we get is information to those pesky manpadders down below waiting to blow u if you dare lower your altitude more than 20.000 feet..

Linking a MANPAD to any sort of radar hardly makes any sense. They're very short range, and the reason that MANPADs today kill more planes than any radar guided missiles do is because it's impossible to jam them, or send ARMs against them.

Putting a radar unit on a MANPADS launcher doesn't make sense, because it's probably not going to be man portable after you do that.

Putting a receiver for a datalink to other units (which is what that article seems to be about) on a MANPADS launcher is a great way to make it less likely that flying low, fast, and using terrain masking will do any good if trying to counter MANPADS.

Basically, they're trying to remove a bunch reaction time during the launch process, and to improve situational awareness of the incoming target's location.

Still requires the operator to be ready and have the launcher positioned etc., and I'm sure they put in some sort of manual override (if they didn't they will after the first time it fails disastrously in battle due to failure to link to command and control units).

So a big improvement for well trained troops with appropriate support, not so impressive for people sitting under a tree playing cards and having a smoke.

Callsign "Auger". It could mean to predict the future or a tool for boring large holes.

I combine the two by predictably boring large holes in the ground with my plane.

"Barnaul-T" system, electronic intelligence and automated control for the purposes of targeting and distribution between the arrows to MANPADS, interact with other air defenses. In the embodiment of BTR-3D will be used in the Army Airborne

Some SAM radars are very long range though. Often well beyond the capabilities of their associated missiles. Some are just standalone units too.
