Here’s a shorter campaign for you to try, if I see evidence (screenshots please) that three players have completed the campaign by midnight UTC on Friday – OK lets make it Sunday - I will donate £100 to the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat Station here on the east coast of Scotland. If six players can finish it I will double the donation. The Broughty Ferry crews are worthy recipients as they fished a Tornado crew out of the North Sea a few weeks ago. And I’m sure that I can trust the virtual pilots on this forum not to do the old Ctrl+SHIFT+D trick.

Campaign Operation Hot Dog takes place during a fictional war in which you fly a USAF A-10 against a massive onslaught by Russian armour.

Operation Hot Dog v1.12a

Summer 1995. The Great War of Liberation has entered its 55th year. After a cease-fire lasting almost six weeks, American, British and German ground forces of the Western Allies’ CXVIII Corps are currently well established along a front stretching from Evpatorija in the west to Feodosija in the east. Over the past few days the Russian army in the Crimea has been building up its forces in the region and it now looks highly likely that they will soon launch an attack on our zone.

The 7th Allied Tactical Air Force has deployed its A-10 aircraft to their Forward Operating Locations (FOLs) in the Black Sea region. You have arrived in the conflict area with the 23rd Fighter Group and you are leading a flight operating out of its FOL at Khersones Air Base.

Should hostilities begin, your main task will be to support allied ground forces close to the front.

Mission 1 Close Air Support at Gerojskoe.

Day 1. 06:30 Hrs. Two hours ago a massive Russian offensive commenced along the entire length of the front. So far our forces are holding the Russian advance. However, the 33rd Panzerdivision (Falkenberg) is under immense pressure to the west of the village of Gerojskoe and it is likely that the enemy will beak through and reach the town of Ivanovka if the Leopard 2 tanks of Panzerbrigade 54 are overwhelmed.

You and your wingman are on the apron at Khersones fully armed and fuelled. Start engines immediately and get airborne and proceed to the Initial Point at (SP2). Your first targets are a group of tanks that have been pinned-down three miles to the north-west of the village. An OA-10A aircraft will mark these targets with smoke rockets. Subsequent targets, mostly Infantry Fighting Vehicles, will be laser designated by ground troops.

Mission 2 On-Call CAS at Lekarstvennoe.

Day 1. 10:45 Hrs. You are already airborne with your wingman to provide On-Call Close Air Support as required in the Lekarstvennoe (SP2) area. An OA-10A acting as Forward Air Controller in the Milhajlovka sector has observed Russian armour on the move and it is likely that the enemy will soon be in a position to engage forward units of the German 41st Panzergrenadierdivision (Pankow). Your targets are currently 10 miles north of your present position – engage them immediately.

Air cover will be provided by two USAF F-15Cs on CAP just north of Pochtovoe.

Your call-sign: Uzi 11

Weather is fine, with scattered cloud at 4,000ft, 50 F.

Mission 3 On-Call CAS at Belogorsk

Day 1. 16:30 Hrs. You are already airborne with your wingman to provide On-Call Close Air Support as required in the Krymskaja Roza (SP2) area. Tanks of the US 330th Armoured Battalion are engaged in a fierce battle against advancing Russian armour around the town of Krymskaja Roza. Your targets are currently 15 miles north-west of your present position – engage them immediately. An OA-10A already in the Rusakovka area will act as Forward Air Controller whilst AH-64Ds of the 3154th Attack Squadron will deal with the enemy’s 2S6 and ZSU-23 self-propelled AAA systems.

Air cover will be provided by two USAF F-16Cs on CAP overhead Simferopol.

Weather is fine, with scattered cloud at 3,000ft, 50 F.

Mission 4 On-Call CAS at Krasnokamenka.

Day 2. 08:30 Hrs. You are already airborne with your wingman to provide On-Call Close Air Support as required in the Krasnokamenka (SP2) area.

Over on the eastern sector, and against very heavy odds, British units of The King’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment have mounted a successful counter-attack on the left flank of the Russian advance and have retaken the town of Staryj Krym. Under heavy tank fire, a MCV-80 Warrior IFV of the Walmington-on-Sea Platoon has taken and held the village of Grushevka. It is vital that we hold on to the village and the high ground it is situated on. Our ground troops will be able to laser designate hostile forces for you. Your targets are currently 10 miles west of your present position – engage them immediately.

Air cover will be provided by two German Air Force F-4Es of Jagdgeschwader 563 “Kopenick” on CAP overhead Belaja Skala.

Weather is fine, with scattered cloud at 2,000ft, 50 F.

Good effort - well done. It looks as though I will be asking the bank for one of those oversized cardboard cheques so the awards girl can get her photo in the local paper - just waiting for one more winner.

 

I've just started building on to Operation Hot Dog; if you don't like CAS missions you won't enjoy it though.

7-е боевые воздушные силы союзников используют свой самолет А-10 на передовой оперативной базе (ПОБ) в Черноморском регионе. Вы прибыли в зону конфликта вместе с 23-ей группой истребителей и возглавляете звено, которое проводит операцию на ПОБ на Херсонской авиабазе.

В случае начала военных действий Вашей основной задачей будет поддержка союзнических сухопутных войск, находящихся близко к фронту.

 

Миссия 1. Скрытая поддержка с воздуха в Герожском.

 

День первый. Время 06:30. Два часа назад русские начали массивную наступательную операцию по всей линии фронта. Наши силы пока сдерживают наступление русских. Однако, 33-я бронетанковая дивизия (Фалкенберг) находится под очень большим натиском русских на западе деревни Герожское. Похоже, что если два танка «Леопард» 54-й бронетанковой бригады будут подбиты, враг прорвется и войдет в город Ивановка.

 

Вы и Ваш ведомый замаскированы в Херсоне, полностью вооружены и заправлены топливом. Немедленно заведите двигатель, произведите взлет и продвигайтесь к исходной точке на (УКАЗАТЕЛЬ 2). Ваша первая мишень – группа танков, которая обнаружена в трех милях на северо-восток от деревни. Самолет OA–10A обозначит эти мишени дымовыми ракетами. Наземные группы обозначат лазером следующие мишени, представляющие собой, в большинстве своем, боевые машины пехоты.

OA-10A, выполняющий передовой контроль с воздуха в секторе Михайловки, обнаружил передвижение русской бронетехники, и враг, похоже, скоро займет позицию готовности к бою с передовыми частями 41-й немецкой бронетанковой моторизированной пехотной дивизии «Panzergrenadier» (Панков).

Ваши мишени в настоящее время находятся в 10 милях севернее вашей нынешней позиции. Откройте по ним огонь немедленно.

 

Прикрытие с воздуха будут обеспечивать два F-15C ВФ США, осуществляющие боевое патрулирование на севере Почтового.

Танки американского 330-го бронетанкового батальона вступили в жестокое сражение неподалеку от Крымской Розы с наступающей русской бронетехникой. Ваши мишени в настоящий момент находятся в 15-ти милях к северо-западу от Вашей нынешней позиции. Откройте по ним огонь немедленно. OA-10A, который уже находится в районе Русаковской, будет выполнять функции передового авиа-наводчика в то время, пока ударный вертолет АH-64D 3154-ой штурмовой эскадрильи будут заняты вражескими самодвижущимися зенитно-артиллерийскими системами 2С6 и ЗСУ-23.

 

Прикрытие с воздуха будут обеспечивать два F-16C ВФ США, осуществляющие боевое патрулирование над Симферополем.

Во всем восточном секторе, несмотря на значительное неравенство в силах, Британские атакующие части личного Королевского полка Западного Кента смогли провести успешную контратаку на левом фланге наступления русских и снова заняли город Старый Крым. Под тяжелым танковым огнем БМП MCV-80 «Уорриор» взвода «Вальмингтон-на-море»взял деревню Грушовка и удерживает в ней наши позиции. Для нас крайне важно удержать наши позиции в этой деревне и те высоты, на которых она расположена. Наши сухопутные войска смогут обозначить для Вас лазером вражеские силы. Ваши мишени в настоящий момент находятся в 10 милях западнее Вашей нынешней позиции. Откройте по ним огонь немедленно.

 

Прикрытие с воздуха будут обеспечивать два самолета F-4E Ягдгешвадер 563ВС Германии «Копеник», осуществляющие боевое патрулирование над Белой Скалой.

Can I get password to unlock and edit the campaign? I hate to fly with labels...

You can toggle labels off in any mission (passworded or not) by pressing the following key combos: SHIFT-F2 for aircraft, SHIFT-F6 for missiles, SHIFT-F9 for ships and ground units, and SHIFT-F10 for objects. The converse, however, is not true. If they are turned off in Options/Difficulties, the toggles don't work to turn them on.
