Can't update

Bought F86, trying to update from version 1.26.

 

DCSW is running fine but I'm not getting a prompt to update when I run it. When I try to run autoupdate manually (as admin) I get an incompatible file error.

 

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you are running....."

 

If I try to run repair manually I get.

 

"Windows cannot find 'F:\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe......"

 

There is a version of that file in \bin\ but maybe its the wrong version.

 

Any ideas???????? DCSW was working fine up to this point.

What are your specs?

 

You might have to download DCS WOrld and do a clean install.

I do wonder if its some sort of antivirus issue, Bitdefender, maybe it blocked some files last update???

Hmmm, I thought there was an issue with Bitdefender that was fixed... perhaps not....

I had exactly the same problem and resolved it this way:

- there was an dcs_updater.exe in C:\User.....Temp\DCS,

- copy this file and paste it in your DCS World\bin (replace if necessery the existing file)

- start this exe and it will do the update, I hope !

I've no other DCS_updater file it seems.

A re-install has solved the problem.

 

If I had to guess I'd say Bitdefender blocked the new exe file versions at the last update. I've not used DCSW much recently due to boring real life stuff, the problem may have occurred a while ago.
