PondLife Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 So, there I was getting bounced (again) just after taking off from home plate in my A10C, I started thinking....wouldn't it be nice if I had an AI F15 escort who activated after I took off and stopped the nasty fighters from ruining my fun without a fair fight. To be honest, after running through start and nav alignment procedures and setting up my weapons, it really ***** me off when some yahoo hanging around the airfield decides to go Turkey hunting A10's.. To cut a long story short, you can trigger AI escorts to fly with you and engage if your threatened, the thing is... is this really fair on the opposing forces? You could even trigger them to go home once you entered enemy airspace.... what does everyone think?

xentxo Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 No matter what course i choose, a different type Ai Aircraft will follow me? Example (trk/mission) please?
Exorcet Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 AI can't escort client aircraft. You can set them to CAP though and use F10 radio to give orders. AI sometimes causes issues in MP however. I'm not up to date on them, but I know in the past for example, you clients would get no RWR warning from AI. Things like MiG-31's could be very annoying in that case. One other point, the attack planes available now (Su-25 and A-10) don't like operating in enemy airspace. The mission could just be designed with some friendly SAM cover for the strike planes. No matter what course you choose, the AI escort would stick with you. The escort would be the aircraft type allocated by the mission designer.
PondLife Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 CAP is different than an escort. I tried this in a mission last night and set the escort engage range to 20 miles and it worked pretty well. Assigning the escort request to the F10 comms menu seems to be the way to go as this would give you the option if you wanted it.
