aracas11 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I am surprised at how little the rudder needs to be used when airborn and that it is only needed at low speed to coordinate turns , where as at higher speed it seems that it is left centered unless i`m using it to adjust my aim. Is this how the Sabre was flown ?.
aracas11 Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 Just read in the F-86 pilots manual that due to inherent stability at mid to high speed very little to no rudder is needed to fly the plane in coordinated manner.
ttaylor0024 Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Just taking a shot in the dark here, but at higher speeds and with extreme angle of the wing sweep, much less aileron is needed in order to roll the aircraft. Due to this, less lift is produced, causing less induced drag. The lower the induced drag, the less rudder needed.
