Hodgepodge Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Hello, I haven't been posting here for a while, but seeing the latest Black Shark screenshots reminded me of LOMAC which is dusting on my shelf... The reason why it sits there is that I only have 1.02, I wanted to buy FC but didn't because I do not want to have Starforce on my system, nor do I want to support them in any way (The very latest 'fiasco' of Starforce developers posting links to illegal copies of Galactic Civilization 2, which doesn't use any copyprotection at all, on their own forum makes me sick!). So, as the title says, my question to ED is will Black Shark still use Starforce? I'd really hope not, but am afraid that it will. I tried searching but didn't find any information about this.
britgliderpilot Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 It is very, very likely that Black Shark will use Starforce. If it ain't broke . . . . don't fix it. Sorry that you don't want Starforce, but a whole heap of other people here have decided it's not a big deal. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Pilotasso Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 here it goes again. I bet this is going to be everyones thread for this pet hatred... .
Azrayen Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 No official answer from ED staff but I think that StarForce will be used to protect BS, as FC : I personnaly knows a lot of people posting about all the "problems" with StarForce but only 2 or 3 LO pilots (on the 100+ I know) who had a real problem with it. And for those 2 or 3, the problem had been solved in a few hours/days by ED support team... I do not want to have Starforce on my system, nor do I want to support them in any way Then, the options are simple : - BS includes SF => Stay in 1.02 and save your money - BS doesn't include SF => Buy it or find another thing to reproach to the other protection system that'll be used this time... ;) Az', going out...
Cosmonaut Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Hmm interesting link never heard of that game but it's nice to see a company with a CP philosophy that doesn't make the paying customer jump through hoops. Well SF isn't on my Christmas card list for various reasons but I like lockon so as long as they release a CD version then I'll continue to buy ED products. If there was only a downloaded version then that would be a different matter although I would say this though that the CD version doesn't cause me any problems and is pretty much hassle free so I would suggest purchasing the CD of BS.. yeah I know you object to SF but in the grand scheme of things like child labor, chemical waste then by not buying a pair of running shoes you're probably making a bigger difference than not purchasing an SF infected lockon ;) Cozmo. Eagle Dynamics will definitely gain more in sales with Starforce protection, then in losses because very, very small percentage of users experience Starforce problems. As Galactic Civilization 2 goes it is a fact that it is massively pirated as Starforce showed with that link. So Galactic Civilizatoin 2 customers who payed for a game, also are creating profit for Pirots. ... nor do I want to support them (Starforce) in any way...I do want to support Starforce. Guest IguanaKing Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 GalCiv2 is a game which is in MUCH greater demand among warez punks than a flight sim like FC. If flight sims had more than our small, "cult" following, StarForce would just be a speedbump to anyone who was determined to break it. Any scheme created by the human mind can easily be defeated by another human mind...the difference is in how many people care. ;) Hajduk...no problems with SF here either. Just wondering...do you have the download version of FC or the CD version?
Guest EVIL-SCOTSMAN Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 SF has already been cracked iguana, the speed bump is long passed :p i have read and seen places where you can get SF cracks, but its a pain in the ass solution that isnt just a cracked exe file. chances are its an earlier sf version and the crack may or may not work anymore with newer versions of SF.
