Tumbleweed Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Hi, I added the BS2 to my collection last Thursday and am getting quite familiar with it. Just have one question regarding the auto hold features... When all of the pitch, bank, heading and alt holds are enabled I make adjustments using the stick in conjuction with the trim button and the brake however no matter how careful I am to keep the aircraft level, when I set the trim the aircraft ends up at some squiffy bank angles. Not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. For instance, I get the aircraft flying on auto in one direction (heading) at my desired alt and speed and then I wish to turn the aircraft a few degrees left or right so I yaw the aircraft with the rudder (torque) and at this point I've tried holding trim while I yaw as well as yawing then pressing trim but still, no matter how level I've kept the yaw turn, the aircraft ends up at some canked angle. Sometimes it flies on the heading I want at this banked angle. Some times it is still turning when I set the trim. Any ideas please? :joystick: My Hangar: P-51D Mustang - KA-50 Blackshark - A-10C Warthog - F-86F Sabre - FC3 - Combined Arms - UH-1H My Flying Adventures: www.dcs-pilot.com :pilotfly:
Isegrim Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Just for my better knowledge of like you fly the Shark one question. Are you using the central position trim mode? In the other Hand you can just upload a TRACK (.trk file). Also .... yaw only turn + Shark....... are not the best friends at higher speeds (150 km/h+) . "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom

In this case, the system acts as real auto pilot and tries to fly you to the next waypoint. If you then try to change your flight path, the AP sees this deviation from the flight path and "corrects" it. To tell the AP to fly to where YOU want, you need to disable the Route Mode. Then the AP tries to fly the helo to where (i.e. heading) you trimmed it. Route Mode switch is located at the collective. edit: Route Mode=on tries to fly you to the "desired point". This is usually the active steerpoint of your PVI-800 nav system. But it can also be the point where your Shkval is pointing to if you enable "Turn To Target" mode. Edited August 25, 2014 by Flagrum

anjet Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Could it be the case that you try this straight after start-up and takeoff. IIRC there is some period of time where some equipment (Doppler something :) ) responsible for this attitude determination needs to warm up. Edited September 8, 2014 by anjet didn't see the other post wit answer
anjet Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I just saw you got your answer from Flagrum :)
BitMaster Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 anjet, you are still right with what you said. You can lift off and use the AP channels right away BUT I would wait some 2 minutes or so until I engage HoverMode.... if you do it too early the rodeo lights start flashing YIHAAA. Isn't it the inertia system needing to calibrate ? I dunno what exact system causes it but you better obey it ;) Bit Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
Fishbreath Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Once you have ground speed or the under-50-kmh velocity vector in the HUD, you're good to go for auto hover.
