Operating with GCI

Is there any specific way to use the GCI with the Mig21?

 

I've seen the explanation in the manual on how to add the EWS radar stations and added some,when I go into a Mig21 I get the AWACS menu and the number of EWS radars that I added (with no names), but when I call on one of the options I either get no answer or an answer after a long time.

 

Would appriciate a clarification because flying the Mig-21 without any GCI is like walking blind in a maze.

XCOM did you assign a radio frequency to your GCI station? Also, did you set that frequency in Mission Editor to the MiG-21´s radio station interface? You need to set that frequency there in order to get it to work. I suggest you use channel 0 or channel 1. These are not assigned to ATC and and are available for GCI and AWACS. You should be good to go then...

Tried that, worked partially -

 

For blue coalition it did not work, I get the AWACS menu but there's no way to communicate with it. When I try there's no request even from the pilot.

 

For Red coalition it worked but is there a limit for communication range to the EWR stations? I only managed to communicate with one that was closer to me.

 

The mission example is running now on DCS Israel.

Also having trouble with GCI. The radar station appears on the comms menu but only occasionally will hitting F7 open the next menu, and I've not yet ever got a reply from them
