Well teh question to me is what matter.. Would EDGE be HT/Multicores? We know that it will be CF and SLI capable.. but now we need a fast answer some of us need to know for their next hardware update asap.. thanks

EDGE is the video rendering engine ONLY so EDGE will have zero bearing on whether DCS is multi-cored or not.. At this point they are focusing on EDGE the graphics renderer and not re-writing the entire DCS World program..

So in a nutshell EDGE will showup supporting Multi GPU's but the overall program will still NOT be multi-cored...

Changing from single core to a truly multi-core environment would take an entire rewrite of the whole program and since they are in the middle of EDGE I wouldn't want to try to tackle that either...

Though unless they are making a massive step backwards, it may be safe to assume that sim will remain dual threaded. Its also possible that the jump to the Dx11 API will offer some multi-threaded rendering advantages.

We have come a long way and we are not there yet, in fact, we never will be THERE, it's a constant evolving or dying out. In nature as in software development.

From that particular point of view, DCS will either one day become SMP capable or will fade away,

simple as that. I think the Devs and all decision makers are well aware of that cemented stone on the road map, sooner or later you have to bite that apple, just like EDGE.

Hold the light for SMP

While we are talking about it, that complete rewrite, if you do it, do it right :)

Make it multi, multi everything, make it run on Windows, Mac and Linux, something that should be possible with Exteneded-EDGE 3.0 ExEdge 3.0, OpenGL or whatever will be multi OS at that time

and

make ( in the true name of "make" when compiling LoL ) it so, that you can have certain functions run on other machines, in later stages, with Infantry, Navi and Tank Battles in mind, it may well pay if you can distribute certain roles to certain machines if needed. As a nature of the beast, not as a patched on function if you got the idea. There is also ATC, weather, civil air traffic or what ever may get included or exploited in the good sense in DCS. All of those functions could benefit from modular functions with pipes or ports and IP's as destination and source, from the ground up.

Ok, I had a hard but nice day and 2 Bitburgers ( not where my Nick comes from haha ) and may well be in heaven dreaming', but it's gotta go some way, why not considering this as one of it's impulses.
