Toxocara Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 final test hihi i havent had a lot of time to go through all the testing. i have made some changes to triggers and added some more voice clips. i think this version of the mission is very close to complete. i ran it bot red and blue and achieved mission success and failures. the timing seems rather good on the triggers. the troops dont always restart after an engagement - ideas? the armour 1 group also got a bit stuck on one test after an engagement on the railroad bridge - ideas? and then the final problem - the file is bigger than 5mb----how do i attach it in forums? :helpsmilie:
Toxocara Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 3 mission in 1 ok here it is then. i have made this 1 mission into 3. you now have the choice of playing the Huey, the MI 8 transporter or the MI 8 CAS. The Mi-8T embarking and disembarking was neat to see -- I wondered about that event feature and am glad to see it works. How many soldiers can an Mi-8T hold? A Huey -- can it do that, too? OK, here are my notes. Yes, I did 'Fly' it from a Game Master slot that I added. Get Combined Arms. Players and Clients should be just 1 per group. Blue heli 2 has a Player and an AI that you need to remove. The airbases and FARPS need support units if you want to rearm and refuel. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=86405 Your Blue Hueys start with no weps and no airbase support. I'd put some weps on those birds. People will join in them, take off, and be upset that there's no weps. You said so in your briefing but most folks won't read it. One of your Insurgents is Blue -- tower 1. Best to use two digits in your group names, or they won't sort right after #9. See my Flag Guide document. The mission options should be set. You want to disable most options by selecting the left box. I generally do enable external views and F10 to All or Fog Of War, and I will leave Labels on for development and maybe for the mission. Your helicopter payloads are not Saved. Make a name for each payload and save it for each a/c in each group. Like: UH-1H CAS 01 Mi-8T CAS 01 Use two digits. --- Name your groups, like this --> UH-1H 01 CAS -- for a Client/Player Mi-8T 01 CAS -- for a Client/Player Blue HGrp01 UH-1H CAS -- for an AI Huey Red HGrp01 Mi-8T CAS -- for a HIP ^^^ This can pay off in the long run. You can associate flags with these group names with numbers. --- You don't need to repeat the Advanced Waypoint Actions for each waypoint. You can introduce new A.W.A.s at the waypoints that should enable them. The last two events are inconsistent. One is an End Mission event and the other is a messaging event. You can use Load Mission instead, to restart your mission. The Briefing. It is still not clear; in the summary you use 'we' -- split out the objectives to Blue and Red. Break up your briefing into smaller paragraphs. :) Good progress, Toxo! Wrecking Crew Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 For the a/c that you want folks to join in to, I would use 'Client' rather than 'Player. You can only have one Client or Player per group for it to all work out right. Same goes for large AI a/c -- only one per group. Once you get the Blue Huey the way it should be, it is easy to copy and paste that unit to other groups to make multiple Clients (Alt-C, Alt-V). As your mission develops, you can copy one of your Hip units and make Clients for the Mi-8Ts, too. Do give your file names a version number: a, b, c or something. I only saw last night the FARP needs fuel, ammo and command posts to function as a supply unit. The default air bases dont need. I changed that on the MI 8 mission. Need to repost it. Some "simple" stuff you named in feedback that makes a technical difference to the mission I will try and get my mind wrapped around it.... I am as I said previously a gamer and not a programmer....I know what i like to play but not always how to make it work properly.... The Huey can do transport as well. The MI 8 can carry 12 troops if I remember correcrtly and the Huey 6 troops. I got the embark / disembark to work on the 2nd try. Was running around like a crazy person in the house I was so excited. I am playing around with the FAC now on the MI 8. It is so sad that it doesnt work for the Huey, but you can use another Huey to act as FAC. They report enemy sited over radio and give direction and altidtude....kind of like 3rd prize.... I like the smoke markers though...and with the voice added it gives the feel of a FAC taking place. I will have a look at your "repaired" mission now. Is it complete in your opinion now? :( Back to the flying :pilotfly:
Wrecking Crew Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 My version is working... :) for you to build on it. If you are going to keep this mission as a single player version then you might want to add the End Mission event back in. I did see that the message in that Action did not display in my testing, so I proceeded End Mission with another event that has the Message To All for 20 seconds, then the End Mission fires off 25 seconds later. But then I abandoned the End Mission and instead added this to the Message To All: "Press Esc to exit the mission." That way ^^^ the player/client can end it whenever they want to. The Embark and Disembark is a neat feature. I want to use it in a mission, too. It does seem that the infantry's path must be defined after they disembark, so they will march on to their objective.
