Nascar Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I just set this up and Cpu-z shows the core voltage at 1.432V and the multiplier is at x44? I am running the stock cooler because I believe the pump on my watercooler died. I have a CRYORIG R1 on the way. Motherboard is a Gigabyte Z97x- Gaming Gt. I haven' t messed with any settings in the UEFI BIOS. Isn't 1.432 v way too much? Jester Darrak Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Thread title is misleading, please edit. What do you want to know, if the idle temps are good or if the voltage is good? Add a screenshot of your CPU-Z, then we'll see. ;)
KLR Rico Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Yes, 1.4+v is super high. AFIK, you should tread very lightly for anything over 1.3v. Is there another windows utility or anything that might have taken control over the voltages? For example, my Asus board uses "AI Suite" to change mobo settings in windows. i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS

Nascar Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 Jester, I can't edit the title. Sorry for the confusion. Demon, CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E), I enabled and disabled but the voltage remains 1.432 either way. Demon_ Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 First, be sure about the reading, i use CPUID HW Monitor, CPU-Z. You have to tweak the BIOS, everything is in automatic? Overclock at 4.4G with "auto CPU core voltage" is not a good idea. Try "offset" at -0.040v. Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
Nascar Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 I needed a Bios update. Now it's at 1.230v and x44. If anyone else with a Gigabyte motherboard needs to do this, download Gigabyte App center. It has a tool called @Bios that makes it easy. Thanks for the help. KLR Rico Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Idle temps look good now? i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
Nascar Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) Idle Temps about 33C but if I stress test it shoots to 100C almost instantly. I'm not gonna mess with it until the new cooler comes. This is my first Intel. Seems like the same crap as AMD. KLR Rico Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Oooh, that's nasty. Strange though, the stock cooler should be able to support stock clocks with no problem. i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
