Hello everyone. I'm newby on this forum. Have idea about little mouse look improvement.

I'll write it as it is based on the experience flights in DCS on mouse and joystick without any head tracking.

So, I tried more methods described in this thread:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130829&highlight=mouse

1. Free mouse look with Alt-C - good, but uncomfortable in battle.

2. Double click middle mouse button to switch free look and clickable - absolutly uncomfortable. And it works unpredictable. One time works, another time don't. I'm realy don't understand how it works.

3. Turn on the free mouse look and clickable both in config file - this mode uncomfortable too.

4. HeadtrackingNoIR require many CPU resources and works not perfect. But as idea - pretty cool.

Tried to find any solutions in DCS. Unfortunatelly could not.

I'm ask developers for little improvement:

1. Switching mode "free look/clickable" make like trigger - when press assigned key I get free look, release and get back to clickable cockpit. And possible to reverse this function by pressing some key sequence - which primary is clickable, press key and get free mouse look when key is holding pressed, release key and get back to clickable.

2. Perfectly assign this key for fast switch modes on middle mouse button. Click and hold and you get free mouse look, release and back to clickable.

Sorry for lot of words.

I don't agree on this. I don't know what is "HeadtrackingNoIR" exactly, but I use FaceTrackNoIR and it uses CPU avg. 2%, or maybe not. I may say no FPS impact in the game.

In my opinion, you should let "clickable mouse keycommand" alone and get a headtrack solution. I mean it, you'll love it. To me, it is most essential tool for DCS World. (But, I must admit that some users don't use it and they do great job here!)

It's quite a short time for the double press, which'll be why you're having difficulties.

Once you get used to doing a fast double click, it's perfectly fine.

Which camera resolution are you using, and is "Show VideoWidget" disabled?

Exactly. Correct name is FaceTrackNoIR. Sorry for mistake. But I don't like it. This software work like gopro cameras without any image stabilization. So, it's works, but cockpit get any bit shakes of head movement and I can't make precision click in cockpit switches .

Also this software requires good light in room where you play. At evening you need make spot light directly on your face for correct recognize movement. It's very uncomfortable.

Oh oh oh! Sorry! May bad. I use this software with 3-LED model on my headphone, and yes I agree with you about non-stable performance in face tracking. That's why I prefer using Led thing. But again, it's friendly on PC resources.

If you want to make a LED cap model, we can talk about it.

See you.

I tried more method of double clicking but I think this feature work not properly. Double click is double click. It's pretty simple operation which windows recognize perfectly. I'm hoping developer fixing this.

The lightening isn't the problem as even the display light cast is enough. Problem is if user wears glasses as face recognition doesn't work well.

if you can, assign a default LAlt+C to RMB (right mouse button) and it is easy to move camera and switch back to clicking mode.

The impossibility add switch or modifier to mouse is a crucial feature missing.

Are you developer of FaceTrackNoIR ?
:) Ok man, no need to be nervous.

Forget it. Good luck with your mouse.

There is a way to make it possible to look around with the mouse and click on the controls at the same time. You need to edit a single line:

open file "...\DCS World\Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common\Cockpit\clickable_common.lua" and change

use_click_and_pan_mode = false to use_click_and_pan_mode = true and save - imho this should be in the Options menu in game as a check box!

If you find it useful, you can write a word or two to the devs in THIS thread in the wishlist section

I've tried. But the DCS engine does not assign any mouse key to "Clickable mouse cockpit mode on/off".

Thanks for advice, but I wrote about this in start of thread.

I would also like the separation of mouse controls in views, for me it specifically is connected with coordinate inversion, I do like the defaults in cockpit view, but not in the F2 or in other external views, I am heavily used to RTS world viewing controls and this just cannot be something I can "get disused to" --- I think the X and Z mouse axis (Z = wheel) to be inverted in F2 view, , but in Cockpit the defaults were all compatible.

TLDR if I set mouse axis controls to suit external view, it ruins them for cockpit view.

To use the noncompatible axis settings takes a big load on thinking, even If I know what the controls are right before I have to move/click, my hands aren't listening, as my brain is pretty much wired to what I got used to when I was around 10-15 years old.
