Triple Monitor - 1 has the flickers

So, it just started today. I have 3 LG, 27" Monitors running on a GTX780.

Asus Max VII Hero MB, i4790K cpu. Both CPU and GPU are on water cooling. 1000watt Corsair power supply.

 

The right side is flickering green on the bottom 1/3rd to 1/2 at complete random. Very quickly and just up and down, nothing, all over the place, etc etc. Completely random.

 

Any ideas?

Cold solder joint (made in Korea). Apply some of pressure (with your fingers) to the bezel of the monitor.

Check the hdmi/dvi connector.

I would be fairly certain it was the monitor, and it should be easy to prove by switching the cables. I can't see it being a cable and I doubt it is a port on the card or any other part of the video card.

 

Hopefully, the monitor is still under warranty.

I should have mentioned. Its only doing it in DCS. No problems at all in Windowz.

The only other game I have to try it in is Star Citizen and it has no problems at all there.

Now I might think that it could be a port on the card. DCS might work the card harder than Star Citizen with the resultant heat causing the problem to appear.

 

The ASUS 980, that I just tested, will actually max out the heat limit (80C) when flying through a heavy cloud in DCS.

There is a 3dMark demo on Steam. It will make your card work as hard as it possibly can.

Sooooo,

 

I changed the monitors around on the card and the problem moved from my right monitor to my center monitor.

That left two things, the port on the card or the adapter.

Swapped out the adapter

Problem persisted.

Hmmmmm, maybe it is a bad prot on the card. Seems odd though that it only does it in DCS. The temp on the card hasn't been about 60C since I installed the water cooling. And yes it has been running for a couple weeks on water without incident.

I would still try a graphics bench, to see if you can make it happen on demand. That will make further trouble shooting much easier.

Maybe try another Nvidia drivers. (earlier)

I'll give that a go first, then I'll try an older driver. It was working with this driver though.

Okay, so I ran 3dMark. Very cool show by the way.

 

I did not see the flickering I see in DCS.

I did have to isolate the vid card input as 3dmark only uses one monitor

I watched the entire thing myself.

I have no idea what DCS could be doing to cause that.

 

Btw, OT, my Zotac 980 (in fact the whole machine in my sig) scored 11809 on Firestorm.

I am just very pleased with the new card. I did some testing of both an Asus and the Zotac. Once I get my numbers organized I will post a semi-scientific comparison.

 

EDIT: Have you tried running DCS on just on one monitor?

That is really, really odd. When trying with only one monitor, I would systematically try all combinations of port, adapter, cable and monitor. PITA but to make sure it isn't some odd combination of a marginal cable and another borderline component (or something like that).
