purvis Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Hi all, first time I've posted a question in the forum so please bear with me. Over the years I've played Lock On & more recently FC3. I became fairly proficient flying the Su33 using the Saitek Cyborg & had no problem mapping buttons within DCS with this joystick. With DCS's recent sale I took advantage & purchased A-10C, to get the most out of this sim I decided to purchase Saitek's X52 Pro. This is where my problems start - I'm ok at mapping buttons within DCS, but as you probably know you can't use modes 1,2 & 3 which severely reduces the amount of buttons available. I've downloaded Saiteks SST Programming software & followed their instructions. I've created a couple of test profiles & have also downloaded other members profiles but cannot get the sim to recognise them. Not sure if I'm following the correct procedure but this is the path I follow - within DCS I select options, layer A-10C sim, click in the X52 Pro column & then select Load Profile. I can find the profiles I've created or downloaded by selecting "all files" but after clicking ok no new profile is loaded. Is the problem these profiles end with .pro rather than .lua? I've spent the last two weeks searching this forum & other web sites to see if anyone has had a similar problem, but to no avail. I'd be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.
Blooze Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) If you are creating a profile using the Saitek software and want to rely on it entirely (recommended) then there is no need to use the DCS options section for mapping or loading profiles at all. In fact I completely delete the X52 category with the exception of axis controls to eliminate possible mapping conflicts with DCS presets. There should be a Saitek icon in your task bar that you can right click to activate the Saitek profile you have created by name and that should be all that is necessary. On a side note, any time you edit your Saitek profile be sure to clear profile and reactivate it again so the changes will be acknowledged. If you do not have a Saitek icon in your task bar click START/ALL PROGRAMS/SMART TECHNOLOGY/and right click on profiler to pin it to the task bar for future use. guitarnerd666 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I've just been having the exact same problem, don't know why it won't recognize .lua files.
purvis Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 Many thanks for the quick reply. As you suggested I've deleted everything within the A10C category except the axis controls. Does this mean when I use a Saitek Profile I won't see any commands in the X52 Pro column within the DCS Options for A-10C?
Blooze Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Many thanks for the quick reply. As you suggested I've deleted everything within the A10C category except the axis controls. Does this mean when I use a Saitek Profile I won't see any commands in the X52 Pro column within the DCS Options for A-10C? Yes, but there is no need to have duplicate mappings for the X52 and eliminating the DCS mappings eliminates the potential for mapping conflicts between DCS options and the Saitek profile you have activated. cichlidfan Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I've just been having the exact same problem, don't know why it won't recognize .lua files. The X-52 wont recognize lua files because it isn't supposed to. DCS will not use lua files since v1.2.8 when the structure and name of the saved profiles changed. StrongHarm Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Try this prebuilt x52 profile. A lot of people say they love it. It comes with full instructions and a control diagram. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
purvis Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Special thanks to Blooze & everybody else for their input, I now understand the basics & have tested the profile I created plus one I downloaded - both work. Over the next couple of weeks I'm going to use a few profiles created by others & maybe tweak one to suit myself. Once again many thanks, without your help I would have given up & mapped the profile within DCS & lost out on using the joystick to it's full potential.
purvis Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Thanks StrongHarm, I've just downloaded it.

StrongHarm Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 You can convert pro profiles to standard.
