Has anyone tried the new ultra wide monitors?

It gets even better with this curved ultra wide 34" monitor. At 3440x1440 you can have the best simming experience.

I wish I could afford one of these for 1800 USD instead of four 32" FHD TVs and get a better DCS experience

My rig specs:

Intel Core i7 4770 @3.4Ghz // Corsair 16GB DDR3 // MoBo Asus Z87K // HDD 1TB 7200RPM // eVGA Nvidia GTX 760GT 2GB DDR5 // LG 3D 47" 1920x1080 // Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS // Saitek Combat Pro Pedals // Thrustmaster MFD Cougar pack // PS3 Eye + FTNOIR

Are you planning on buying four 32" FHD TV's? Or did I just misunderstand something.

If the specs in your sig are accurate then I would recommend you upgrade you GPU before going quad 1080P, or 3440x1440, the 2GB Vram is not enough.

Yeah, either upgrade the card or go for a second one. I am running on 5760x1080 on two SLI'ed, overclocked GTX780 with 3GB of Vram each. It runs okay and keep at a solid 40fps most of the time. But even with that setup I get low frame rates now and then.

Precisely. However getting a second 760 isn't necessarily the best option, it might be the cheapest, but you will still be left with 2GB effective Vram. I highly recommend getting a proper card to replace the current one, instead of just adding another.

Personally I would recommend a GTX970 as an upgrade, that or then a R9 290(x). With the resolutions OP has in mind it is best to go for 4GB Vram, 3GB, is going to get crowded really fast. This is coming from someone with a 7950 with 3GB VRAM, and I am playing @1080p.

I got me an AOC 34" lately @3440x1440 for work, running with a GTX670 FTW ed. (basically a GTX680). It definitely needs more graphic power but I just can't get myself to spend money on a new Graphic Card until the industry actually comes up with a decent upscale in Graphic power, Hopefully next year.

I am currently using this 29" ultrawide: http://www.amazon.com/MX299Q-29-Inch-Ultra-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00ENCTVDS

I got the above monitor 4 or 5 months ago and I love it, I really love the ultrawide look for simming...it's great. Recently, I've been considering upgrading to a GTX 980 and a curved 34" 1440p monitor when I can find one at a decent price, but I'm not a huge fan of the LG monitor quality, so I will be be skipping the one you posted (the LED backlight bleed, etc. of their monitors annoys me).

The curved versions of these ultra wide monitors sounds nice but to be honest they are so much more expensive compare to their non curved version which is the same spec wise. These screens aren't large enough to really need to be curved, it sounds nice and logic to curve it, but I rly can't see it improving your experience unless you plan to use 3 of those. Especially since you tend to stand further from it considering the screen size.

It's just not wide enough to benefit from it, far from it. The only use I could see is if the monitor has terrible angle vision. At least from my 34" ultra wide experience here, I couldn't see its curved version improving my experience in any way, in fact it would deteriote it considering I sometime am not the only one looking at the screen and having it curved sort of prevent that to a small extent. I would really advise anyone interrested in these ultra wide screen to stick with the much cheaper non curved version unless they plan on using 3 in the future.

They aren't meant for multiple, simultaneous viewers.

I do agree, to a certain extent, that the screen is not big enough to benefit from the curve but LG seems to think that even a phone should be curved (which I really do not understand at all).

Ive been using this: http://www.mwave.com.au/product/aoc-u3477pqu-ips-34-3440-x-1440-5ms-displayport-led-monitor-with-speaker-ab56427 for a while now. Originally I was using a 22" 1650 x 1050 and I've found a few pros and cons with it.

Good things - Its much more immersive, very good colours, the higher PPI helped a lot in DCS and overall a huge upgrade from my old monitor.

Bad things - Its ruddy expensive, there's a fair few games without support for this type of monitor and its not unusual to have to edit INI settings in order to make certain games work. Unfortunately other games flat out won't run anything from Ubisoft and a few other random titles are forced 16 : 9, most cut scenes in games will be locked at 16 : 9, Its 2.8 times more difficult to drive than full HD. I use an r9 290 and am able to max most games at this resolution but I would consider that the minimum requirement for playing modern games at high setting on this monitor.

I love it and wouldn't go back the only thing I'd consider changing to would be an eyefinity setup but I can't see myself doing that anytime soon. I felt I needed to explain the cons more thoroughly but really IMO the pros far outweigh them.
