RoaringBones Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) This is my current set up. EVGA X58 EVGA GTX 580. 6GB corsair Dominator GT ram. Intel core I7 920 @ 2.67ghz 500gb Seagate hdd. Coolermaster V6 cpu cooler (I know it looks like an Anchor) I'm thinking of doing an overhaul or just upgrade some parts i want to go for more video editing and such. I'm open to any suggestions?? im on the fence. Either upgrade or build a new and sell this one. I'm just not sure what route to take at this point. Edited November 19, 2014 by RoaringBones
golani79 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 For video editing you could benefit from a faster CPU (you´ll probably need a new mainboard too) and more RAM - also a SSD would help when it comes to loading the data but I´d see it as a nice to have. The graphics card shouldn´t make much of a difference and if you are still ok with it I wouldn´t change it if the upgrade was only for video editing. >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<
Random Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Id go with a memory upgrade and overclock the CPU personally
RoaringBones Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 dunno...looks like some of the new stuff support DDR4 but those are pretty new. i think 6gigs of ram is sufficient.
Gladman Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Motherboard/CPU. SSD is nice for load times. Buy a small one for OS and DCS install only, then use your existing HDD for everything else. RoaringBones Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 looks like i may not be able to avoid getting a new Mobo and CPU then, i may as well build a new one huh?
Gladman Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I wouldn't. buy another Vid card and SLI that bad boy if you really want more, that'll get you more FPS and given the recent release of the 980 should be relatively inexpensive. The CPU will help overall. I think you have enough RAM for now. The only problem you might run into is your power supply. SLI can be hard on that. Go with as good as stuff as you can afford, then when you want to upgrade more later, your MB etc can handle it.
