HOTAS Warthog - nulling out coolie hat diagonal presses

My HOTAS Warthog has an incredibly sensitive coolie hat. When I try to coolie left or right long to set my MFDs as SOI in DCS A-10C, the diagonal is often triggered and results in an unintended coolie left or right short.

 

Is there a way to null out the diagonal presses of the coolie so that it only registers on pure up, down, left, or right presses? I am not an expert with the TARGET Script editor, but I am comfortable working with it if given some hints.
