Kelevra9987 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Hello Gentlemen, I have a Question about Texturing. I´ve seen this Thread from Mainstay http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=134045 And I wanted to put an other Picture at the ASP. But I have no idea how to open/edit those .tga.dds files. Could you please help me? Highwayman-Ed Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 First off you're going to need to get an image editing package like GIMP which is free and runs on both PC & Mac. Next you'll need to download the tga and dds plugins from the GIMP site and install them into GIMP. Then you'll need to get the image you want to modify, the MiG-21 ASP block in this case from Mainstay's mod and then open it in GIMP. From there it's a case of finding an image you'd like to superimpose over the top (Missile engagement chart, Take off / landing speed reference, favourite Russian bikini model, etc). Finally, you need to export that image as a DXT5 DDS and then replace the one in game. Sounds fairly complex right? It is, but you get used to it and keep practicing! Soon you'll learn how to work with complex layering, transparencies and specular maps and you'll become addicted to re-texturing everything you see in DCS!
