DCS Community Please advise!

So I would like to perform an incremental upgrade at a total price of $400(USD) [i am in no way brand loyal]

 

Currently I am running:

*AMD Phenom II x4 945 @ 3.5ghz (OC)

*6gb DDR3 @ 1666mhz (8 Cas)

*ATI HD 4870 1GB @ 810/1100 (OC)

 

Additionally I am running the game from HDD, with my system sitting on a separate SSD.

 

I think I'd like to grab a 120GB SSD strictly for select games and sims, and upgrade my system SSD at a later date, or if money permits when I grab these parts...

 

I am currently leaning very hard to the i5 as a CPU as I am obviously not Overclocking averse.

 

As far as the rest goes I am simply undecided and would like to get input from users who are running this sim at high and stable frame-rates.

Yeah i second what Archer1 says but if you could stretch to buy a gtx770 that would be the best bet. Also have you took into consideration the money you could get for selling your older parts??

Good points. Selling older parts usually can't get you much but may be able to fund a motherboard or afford you part of a higher price class graphics card.

Nvidia vs AMD for DCS

 

I am currently using a MSI R6570 card in my i5-4590, 8GB system. It gives OK performance at medium settings in DCS (27-31 fps). It slows down to a crawl at points in mission "Battle" in Ka-50 missions. I am in the market for a card in the $150-$200 range.

My question is. Does Nvidia or AMD have an edge in DSC? I am looking on these two cards: ASUS R9270-DC2OC-2GD5 and ASUS GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5.

Prior to the, hopefully, upcoming EDGE release, and comparing performance of equivalent card, Nvidia cards tend to provide better performance.
