Hi, guys!

On the Ka-50 BS2, the main artificial horizon is not working. Is there a switch somewhere in the cockpit to turn on the main artificial horizon. I turned on the gyro/mag/manual heading switch but the main articial horizon won't turn on. Please see attached. Thanks!

Cheers,

Vincent

You may want to check if you have turned on these systems: EKRAN/HYDRAULICS POWER, ABRIS POWER, STANDBY ATTITUDE INDICATOR (SAI), K-041 SHKVAL POWER... Or you can check this amazing checklist by SDeath here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35571&highlight=Black+Shark+Checklist I recommend you using it so that you don't forget anything and be able to make proper operations. I hope this helps!

EDIT: You might wanna use the „Print Screen“ function instead of taking pictures of your screen next time :D

As your shkvall is switched off on your screen, i think you forgot the K-041.

So maybe you also forgot something else listed above ;)

The "Navigation System Power" Switch on the right wall panel, and "K-041 Shval/Nav power" on the left knee panel are synonymous where NAV Power is concerned. I've used both and have never noticed a difference in the NAV systems if I use one switch before the other during startup. The "Navigation System Power" is the first thing I turn on after Radios, Fire Ext., Ejection, INU Power... since it's conveniently located to those switch clusters. I also 'imagine' that my Shkval shouldn't be powered up until after INU Alignment... but I don't know if that's the case. Take notice, for what it's worth, that the auto startup sequence uses the K-041 power instead of the Navigation System Power (which is left off).

I'd encourage reading the manual all the way through. The KA-50 can be click learned.. after much toil. but why, when it only takes a day or two of light reading to read through the manual to make it a 'subconscious foundation for future reference', as is the goal of tech manuals.

KA50 Manual 6-17:

To operate the HSI, electrical power will need to be enabled and the either the "K-041" or "Navigation System" switch must be set to ON. The HSI will operate after INU alignment is complete.

It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
