leapingrodent Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Howdy folks, spent a bit of time with the 109 today, lovely plane, however I've noticed a possible bug. I'm not really sure how to explain it properly, but if you see the first screenshot, the x axis appears to be off center, to the right, even with my stick in a neutral position, even stranger is that it shows it centered when I'm on the ground and only appears to go the right after takeoff. At first I thought it might have been a problem with my stick, TMWH, but I've checked my calibration and all seems to be good, even tried my msffb2, same issue there. I also booted up the A10 and other modules and didn't see the same issue, see second screenshot. Sooo, is it normal for the control to be off center in the 109 like this? It is a bit annoying as I'm having to constantly wrestle with it to keep straight
Smokin Hole Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Well here's a theory. And if it proves true then it would really speak to the details considered in the FM. Planes without trim often have a bendable or adjustable tab that is set on the ground to suit the tastes of the pilot. If adjusted to a setting other than neutral then the associated surface will deflect a bit under an airload, which is the point of course. It could be that in the config file of the K-4, there is an adjustment for the aileron tab that has been pre-selected for us by DCS. And if that was the case you would notice a deflection of the stick which would vary a small amount with speed.
SlipBall Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 try it again with the slip ball centered just to compair

Was hands off the stick in this screeny. leapingrodent Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 Fair enough, if it's normal behavior then that's ok, just have to get use to it. Thought I'd bring it up just incase though
airdoc Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) The aircraft tends to roll to the left below 400 kmh IAS and above that it tends to roll to the right. So maybe it is indeed modeled like this in order to simulate the pre-set aileron tab position and relative neutrality at common cruise speeds. The night carrier landing is one of the few opportunities in life to experience all three at the same time.
