Art-J Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 One thing I've noticed when the 21 was released was the fact that external sound for GSh-23 cannon wasn't really "right" for a gun of 3500 rounds/min rate of fire. It sounds like good old water-cooled Maxim rather than modern aircraft weapon, which we can hear in the middle of popular ground testing vid here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqNINnxrGag Back to the DCS, the much more suitable "ripping" sound can be heard in the cockpit of course, and I know this is how we hear it most of the time (unless we're making and editing DCS-related movies). However, it seems that UPK gunpods, which feature exactly the same type of cannon, have a "proper" sound when heard both from inside and outside of an airplane. So my question to Cobra is - would it be possible to change the default sample somewhere in the future patch so that the ventral GSh-23 sounds exactly like its brothers installed under the wings (in external view)? I know it's not something crucially important at the moment, but that would be a nice touch to already a damn fine product. Or... question to veteran users/modders who know DCS file structure inside and out - can I do something similar myself? Can I edit some file(s) to "redirect" DCS to the UPK sound sample I want to use for ventral GSh-23 gun? i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
PiedDroit Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 At the 3:32 and 3:47 marks we can hear the pyrotechnic charge sound from outside as well.
