A CSAR mission for up to 4 players in search of Israeli F16 pilot shot down in the area controlled by insurgents.

This is a MP - adopted mission from the upcoming "Enemy Within" full campaing, story - driven and fully voiced - over, featuring 18 missions.

BACKGROUND

An Israeli F16 was shot down during a strike against insurgent ammo dump in the mountains in the northern Georgia. Enemy - CLA, or Caucasus Liberation Army, an Islamist group founded by Chechens (probably with Russian support), but also supported by Hezbollah and Iran, has stricken many targets in Georgia in the recent weeks, just after country has been granted Membership Action Plan in NATO. Israelis have joined the fight because of the Iranian link.

SITUATION

F16, callsign Colt 2-1 went down about 45 minutes ago. His flight lead is still in the area and will be your first contact point, providing you with the latest intel. Colt's 2-1 beacon is functional, but no radio communication was possible so far.

TERRAIN

The terrain consist of moderate to high mountains, forests and valleys, making use of TGP rather difficult. There are a few villages and mosques in the area.

ENEMY PRESENCE

This part of Georgia is currently under CLA control and authorities have no presence there - and no forces on the ground. Expect increased enemy activity while searching for the Israeli pilot. CLA uses mostly unarmed vehicles to move around. As for anti-aircraft threats they have large number of AAA (mainly HMGs) and MANPADS, so assume these will be present in the area.

OUR ASSETS

Apart from Colt 1-1, loitering over the AO, we are sending one Kiowa Warrior (Springfield) that will fly in recon role and one Blackhawk (Pontiac) waiting south from the crash site ready to extract the downed pilot. The operation will be supervised by a commanding officer on board E2-D, callsign Overlord.

ROE

1. Keep high altitude and scan the target area, eliminate any search parties on the ground and be on the lookout for AAA. Time may be of an essence here, we can't let CLA find the downed pilot! Colt 1-1 should inform you about enemy activity on the ground.

2. Once you think it is safe, try to contact Colt 2-1. You might need to try several times, his beacon is working, but there was no radio comms so far. We are trying to find exact location of the beacon, expect updates while in the air.

3. As usual in CSAR missions, the downed pilot should provide you with a specific codeword to confirm his identity. For this mission it is "sunflower". Once you get it, ask him to mark his location and when you have visual, call in Pontiac (Blackhawk) to get him out.

4. Stay in the AO until you get inforMation from Pontiac that tehy are safe on their way home.

***IMPORTANT***

You will communicate with other fligths using F10 radio menu, so for greater immersion it is advised that players actually ask the questions / say the lines which are displayed as a message after choosing F10 option :)

The mission has originally been done with 'radio transmission' option for AI assets, but there seem to be some problem with this and Aries (to be tested further), so for gameplay sake I have changed all voiceovers to 'sound to country'. Keeping correct frequencies is still important to know what is going on with other flights.

Many thanks to Blooze, IADC, Bret Newton (http://www.bretnewton.com), Caitlin, Camman and Elidanav for voiceovers for this one!

Enjoy!!!

Can you check the load out?

In external view I have 2x GBU12, but in DSMS only one. (Extra rocketpod instead.)

Springfield is calling targets way off the target area?!

Hey, sorry, was away for some time and didn't check the forums.

I will have a look at the loadout and get back to you.

Springfield is calling targets that early as this is part of original campaign where Springfield takes off from the airport the moment player lands for refuel and briefing, so when you start the mission they are already close to the target area.

The same goes for calling targets way off the AO - they notice strong enemy encampment which is not your target and is only relevant in the following mission - that is why Overlord says that you are not allowed to engage the forces in Lentehi village.
