martinemerald Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Hi All, I have an MS Sidewinder force feedback 2 joystick and am interested in a Saitek X52. In your opinion is it worth the money or is the sidewinder fine? Any other makes / models I should look at (excluding the HOTAS as its way too expensive for me!) TIA
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted April 5, 2006 ED Team Posted April 5, 2006 I was looking for a new joystick as well (still am, sort of lol), and since the sidewinder force feedback 2 joystick isn't to be found ANYWHERE anymore, i asked for some joystick advice and i ended up buying the X52. The irony, though, is that i haven't got'n it yet, its still beeing shipped to me as i type this. I hope i made a good choice with buying this one. Will let you know how i feel about it later on. :) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
S77th-konkussion Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Should be fine. You can switch profiles on the fly simply by alt- tabbing. I use CH pro rudder pedals, but if I didn't- I'd rather use a twist rudder than the damn X-45 rudder rocker any day. It's hard to make precise movements with that thing. it's awkwardly positioned and not designed for light inputs. Shaman Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Should be fine. You can switch profiles on the fly simply by alt- tabbing. I don't alt-tab. I switch profiles actually really on-the-fly by using the MFD and the "clutch" button in the throttle. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

Guest EVIL-SCOTSMAN Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 the 52 is a decent enough stick, you will find to start with that it is uber light to ,move the stick, no force whatsoever needed, once you get adjusted to that, then its all good, on the fly profile changing as sham says, and basically, the lcd screen will look good ripped out of the throttle and sellotaped to your pc, make your pc look all fancy n shit ;)....
SuperKungFu Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Any other makes / models I should look at (excluding the HOTAS as its way too expensive for me!) lol the X-52 is a HOTAS and it the best bang for the buck. I have one and i love it. I saw it on sale over christmas down to $75. That's a pretty good price for this stick, see if you can get it somewhere around that same price. btw...welcome to the forum! martinemerald Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 thanks everyone for the reply. The only thing I'm unsure of is the X52 doesn't have any force feedback (which I think I may miss)
