luckyfortune Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Hello, I really love to fly the Su-33 and carrier land, but I have a problem: I can't get the optical landing system to turn on! I radio the carrier for an inbound, request the landing a couple kilometres out, and fly in for an overhead or break-turn approach, but then can't see the optical landing system and there's no landing signals officer for the talk-down, so I have to land on guesswork by using the deck of the carrier as a reference instead of flying the ball the proper way, which isn't very safe or reliable. After getting onto the carrier, sometimes I turn on the external camera and look around, and usually see the datum lights on. But on approach, even as close as ten seconds in the groove, sometimes I've paused the game to switch to a view of the ship so I can see the optical landing system, but there are no lights on it, not even the datum lights are on. Any help will be appreciated! Thank you.
sniperwolfpk5 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I can't see it as well but I use ILS (instrument landing system) so on HUD you have to keep center the two circles (Make a donut) on each other. Be sure you are on landing (LNDG) mode not on RTN. You can check your current navigation mode on HUD Win10, Intel 3rd Gen. Core i7 3.8Ghz, 20GB ram, Nvidia Geforce 1060 6GB Opentrack (Download it from HERE), PS3 Eye, Saitek x52-pro Joystick, DIY Rudder Pedals, Google Cardboard with DCS World English is not my native language
luckyfortune Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 Thanks. Having the glideslope indicator on the HUD really helps, although that's a bit of a pity that I can't get the Optical Landing System to work the way it should. I will use the ILS for now. Much appreciated!
Azrayen Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 IIRC optical never worked for humans in LO or DCS. Only for IA. Old "bug"...
